Buc, totally agree with your ongoing assessments of our coaching staff....believe you are dead on and THE staff resides in Athens now.

Is it just me or are we all starting to notice our coaches are walking with a "SWAGGER".....you can see it, hear it and just FEEL it.

Swagger is a good thing.....imo it is developed and passed to the players from great coaching and building confidence.

wlayton, unless my eyes are deceiving me (possible) there is a "swagger" and I notice it with Mark Richt. Appears that the other coaches are focused on doing their jobs, allowing Richt time to be a head coach.

I really believe years prior that there was too much dirty water in the wash, and Richt had not yet dumped that "good guy" image. He is still a good guy, but appears to be ready to "attack" if necessary. When we look back just a short time span, there was a lot that needed to be corrected.

I sure hope that this group of young men realize how important it is to watch their p's and q's. As the depth builds, those holding positions have to understand that there are young men in line to wear the colors, especially on Saturdays. None of the young pups want to sit on the benches between the Hedges on Saturday. Still feel that McGarity got more than Mark Richt's attention, good on him.

Why do I think that Jordan Jenkins is going to be all that? My answer to that is, Saban/Smart knew it, Grantham knew it. Won't be the last recruiting war that Grantham wins.

Keep up the excellent work Wil Friend, little more depth along that front and who knows.

There have been skirmishes this Spring, looking forward to Kublanow coming for Fall practice. He will definitely make some sparks fly.

And Mark Richt just smiles . . . . :woohoo: I love positive change.

Edit: Did you folks see Mark Richt's face when he mentioned Quayvon Hicks throwing a block in pass protection? Richt had a little look of pleasure on his face, started to say more and caught himself. This could be huge for South Carolina and Clowney. Just saying . . . .;)

Edit 2: Sterling Bailey, been around a while. Stays healthy, young man is going to be awesome.

Has been mentioned in this thread that Chris Wilson is now a part of a defensive coaching staff that appears to be moving forward. The signing of Dontavius Russell really excites me. Must say this, what really excites me is the fact that Russell committed to CW.

If Chris Wilson is going to have this kind of success, this early in his recruiting for Georgia, has to rate highly with all of us. In roads by Chris Wilson this early makes for a promising future. Apparently CW has no problems taking over the defensive line from the departed RG and moving forward. This "get" sends a message when we look at the universities that wanted Russell.

Link below lays it out, if you have not seen this, hope you get as excited about Chris Wilson's first serious recruiting effort as I am. Yes I am excited about Russell, honestly, really excited about what Russell said in the link. Basically says, "my mind is made up".

Coach Wilson and Coach Friend, exciting. :woohoo:

Edit: Know that I am being bad, but what the heck. Happened to notice that AUBURN missed on Russell, appears some young men can see through the smoke screen, eh RG.

Quick morning post and then back to "The Grind".

I'm not worried about UGA recruiting, and honestly, I never have been. Why?

Herschel Walker, Garrison Hearst, David Greene, DJ Shockley, Terrel Davis (at least in the pros), Danny Ware, Thomas Brown, Richard Seymour, Geno Atkins, AJ Green, Leonard Pope, Malcolm Mitchell . . . you know what? I'm too tired to go on. This is a VERY long list filled with All Pro talent (and professionalism) and just all around DGD-ism.

I guess I'm just one of those guys who looks at recruiting the way my kids look at a trip to the candy store - there's plenty to go around and it's always fun to walk down the aisle and see what gets rung up at the cash register.

Great discussion - keep it up!

Good stuff thriller. Your post puts needed perspective into the thread when discussing talent that has been and is still on campus.

Edit: Sorry folks, sometimes I have to gloat. Looking at the coaches that Chris Wilson recruited against, impressive from where I sit.

Alabama -- Kirby Smart
Auburn -- RODNEY GARNER
Clemson -- Dan Brooks
Florida -- Bryant Young

Some have probably read the article below, if not . . . .

I have double interest in Kentavious Street. First . . . . he grew up in Georgia, just recently moved to North Carolina.

Second . . . . Young man is from Coffee County, huge UGA area.

Will add a third . . . . I was born in Coffee County in the year 1940. :)

And a fourth . . . . watched some film on this young man, WOW! Lilly has been the man so far, going to be interesting to see what happens when Chris Wilson gets involved.

One stands out to Street

Jake Rowe
UGASports.com

Rose (Greenville, N.C.) defensive end Kentavious Street knows he has a big spring and summer ahead of him.

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound blue chipper has visits and combines mapped out for the next few months.

But Street, who admits he is as goal-oriented as they come, has big plans for those events and especially for the combines.

"In April I'm planning to go up to Richmond, Virginia for the Rivals Camp," Street said. "I'll be competing with Da'Shawn Hand, and I hope to be on that level. My goal right now in the recruiting process is to become number one. I don't want to be in the top 25 if I'm not number one so I've just set that as a high goal. I've been training my butt off and I hope to go up there and take care of the competition."

After being relatively unknown on January 1 only to explode on to the scene a few days later at the Army All-American Combine in San Antonio, Tex., Street has seen his recruitment catch fire in the last couple of months.

At this time, one program is standing out as the five-star defender's leader and as the team that is recruiting him the hardest.

"Right now I would have to say that Georgia is at the top of my list," he said. "They have surpassed Florida State. They (UGA) are recruiting me the hardest and I'm just loving it and loving UGA, really. I'm so excited to get down there. I'll be down there in May to visit their campus. I'm really starting to lean toward committing early but I don't really know yet."

The nation's 14th-ranked prospect by Rivals.com is originally from the state of Georgia, but it is the relationships he has built with his recruiter of record for the Bulldogs, John Lilly, that has put UGA in the driver's seat for now.

"It is kind of like he is like my big brother," Street said of Lilly. "He checks in on me and when I call him he asks about my day and stuff like that. He asks how me and my girlfriend are doing and how my family is doing. That is great to know that isn't all about football to him. I've talked to Coach (Mark) Richt a lot and we've developed a great relationship. Then the fact that I can play in my home state and in front of my family and make them proud is just great. I just like everything about them (UGA) right now. I've always had a little bulldog in me. I bark every now and then so it is just great right now."

Georgia may hold a lead for Street at this point, but the Rivals100 standout says other schools are still heavily in the mix for his pledge.

"Florida State is close behind Georgia," he said. "I talk to them every now and then. Now that coach Billy Napier is gone, I talk to coach Jay Graham and I was supposed to talk to coach (Jimbo) Fisher this morning but I had to catch up on some homework. I'm really not talking to many other schools other than Georgia, Florida State, and Tennessee. I haven't talked to Clemson in awhile. Virginia Tech, Georgia, Florida State, and Tennessee are really the schools I'm talking to the most right now."

As a prospect that is relatively new to the recruiting scene, Street has learned some lessons over the last couple of months.

One thing that has really stunned him is how so many schools offered but only a few are coming after him hard at this time.

"One thing that has surprised me is that with a bunch of schools, once they offered me, they stopped talking to me," he said. "That really shocked me. I thought that after you got offers schools continued to recruit you hard. Most of the schools backed up and I guess they thought I was going to commit because they offered me or because they didn't have a chance. My top schools are my top schools because they are constantly talking to me and I have developed a great relationship. I don't just want offers, I want to know the coaches that I could be playing for."

Edit: Film on Kentavious Street. Check the impact when he lays the wood.
