have to agree with Goosedawg. Let down was showing for us but you cannot take anything away from the Huskers. They deserved to be there and showed that they were not only a good team but talented.

I'm asking because on a Husker message board I frequent there's a discussion about the reasons teams lose and this game has come up. My thought is that Georgia wasn't as interested in a meaningless Capitol One Bowl as Nebraska was, since the consequences of your loss meant no National Championship try while we merely missed out on a conference championship. We had something to prove as well after getting embarrassed by Wisconsin.

My take is similar to the others here. There's no question Nebraska has an excellent football team - if you want to take the Wisconsin game too seriously, then we have to take our game against South Carolina more seriously too. But I think we are/were much better than the outcome of that game would indicate, and I KNOW Nebraska was way better than the Wisconsin game. That said, yes, I think the Dawgs were kind of flat, and played mentally VERY sloppy. Our run defense was problematic all year, and showed up the same way against the Huskers. Both Georgia and Nebraska proved last year that teams can have mental lapses and let downs.

For this year, I think if the Huskers can find a running back to replace that kid that ran all over our defense, and can keep a strong secondary, they should be really good again . . . Your biggest problem is your QB. Way too one dimensional for D1 ball. He reminds me of Buck Belue - and that's NOT a good thing. My sympathies on that count. But I do think Nebraska will have a good year. Not a Husker fan - I smarted for a LONG time after Nebraska handed it to us in 1969. However, I hate Ohio State far worse, having lived just north of Columbus for a couple of years. Their schedule has "Big 10 Championship" written all over it, and their coach is a lying sack of excrement - and a COWARD.

knapplc, in the parking lot closest to the stadium, actually could call it "tailgating with Nebraska". A fine group of folks, very enjoyable being around "football folks" from Nebraska. Never any put downs, just good, clean college football chatter. You have a terrific fan base, not surprising, Nebraska led the nation for a long time.

Totally on board with thriller and his comments concerning Ohio State. From where I sit, think there are two teams that can beat Urban Meyer's group. Nebraska and Michigan. Here is hoping both do.

Where thriller and I might go in different directions, Taylor Martinez. Taylor is a football player, will go to the NFL. Taylor is the kind of quarterback that can beat the Buckeyes. If Urban had been in the position as head coach at Ohio State when Martinez first entered college, Urban would have been all over him. Reminds me a little bit of Russell Wilson, quarterback now at Seattle. Don't have to give background on Wilson, you watched him play in your conference.

Do I think that Nebraska is a good football team, yep. Also think that they learned a lot from the game in Orlando.

Do I think that Georgia was a good team last season, yep. Had management problems that I believe we took care of in the offseason.

Come back again . . . . especially after you hand it to Urban and his boys. That of course would be the Conference Championship Game.

thriller, more than once I have mentioned to you in private messaging, not here on the board, you should be bringing more to all of us. I have deep respect for you and what you bring to this board. No one leads you, all any of us have to do is rifle through the numerous posts and threads that you have presented, you not only played the game, you understand the game.

There is a group of board members that are on top of Georgia Football that I wish posted more. Not only Georgia Football, football and all of its phases. I look at the names of those that reply to threads, sometimes (lots of times) I wish my name did not appear as much as it does.

Plain and simple . . . . I appreciate your kind words . . . . BACK AT YOU, that is sincere.
