SEC Championship

Buc, really hope you are right!!

I feel like we are going to have to throw the ball to set up the run. You know how Saban coaches.....he will want to shut down a team's strength and believe he will focus on shutting down our running game. CMR/Bobo, imo, will need to spread the field in order to run it against BAMA. Just don't believe we can come out in the "I" and run it down their throats....won't happen. Spread the field, throw the ball to open up the run from that spread formation. We can't out muscle them imo.

Believe our DL against their OL matches up better than our OL against their DL, hence spread the field.

Early on, we had better shut down their "down hill" runs or it will be a long night.

Totally agree with your post wlayton.

Their quarterback is not doing a bad job of throwing the ball downfield either.

Could not be happier with our running backs. Against Alabama, with you on this one, they will make us fight for every inch.

AM has been throwing the ball really well, really well. Our receivers find some room, it could get very uncomfortable for Alabama. Feel sure Alabama will play mostly man, they have to find out quickly whether or not they need to play cover two or variations.

The way our offensive line reacts to this game, will give us a lot of insight into next season.

Mike Bobo and Kirby Smart, a few years down the road now, both gettng longer in the tooth, and who would have thought that it would turn out like this. Love it!

I would LOVE to see Gurley and Marshall in at the same time, in a split back formation, or T, or whatever they call it now, for quicker access to the flats, and to not tip off which ones getting it, and dial up some sweeps or swing passes to get them outside in space quicker.

Really like that idea sadlerdawg. I remember when AU did that to many with Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown.

A couple of formations like that could certainly confuse them but also don't want our freshmen making mistakes at this point either. Imo, for Sat, go with what got you here.....Gurshall knows the offense well now. Would love to see their (BAMA's) expressions with both of them in the backfield though.

If we have a little success throwing it, I think we can spread them and run it. Just want a crease or two for those 2 guys.

I agree with both of you, sadlerdawg and wlayton. I would also like to see that two back set, since so many things can be done out of it and 'Bama couldn't POSSIBLY know about that ahead of time.

On the other hand, it would probably only work well if you ran some very "stock" plays out of it, to prevent our own confusion. I think motioning out of it to a passing formation might be pretty interesting, with Marshall's speed.

Wasn't it Royal at Texas who said, "We're gonna dance with who brung us?"

We've had a good year except for that debacle in Carolina. I'm hoping that was one that got it all out of our system.

My pessimist is still saying 'Bama 31, UGA 14. I just see them busting it right up the gut on us. That's what I'd do if I were them. Saban hinted in that interview Buc posted that their center can unjam the middle, with or without Jenkins or Geathers in the game. On the other hand, GSU followed by Tech might help us in that regard - the middle was CERTAINLY the focus in those games. We gave up yards but few points.

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!

I see what you guys are saying, but I'm not suggesting we re-invent the wheel here. I think both Marshall and Gurley are capable of executing a sweep or a swing pass offset from the QB instead of from directly behind him. Also would open the possibility of one pass blocking and one becoming the checkdown on pass plays. Just a wrinkle to keep 'em on their toes, because I'm not convinced what got us to the dance is good enough to beat 'em.
