SEC Championship

SEC Championship was created by ogredawg
wlayton has said all year that our O line will be our downfall. This game will probably seal it for our O line as mediocre like wlayton has said all year. They will be going up against a very good front seven and if they do not play the best game of the year they will be man handled and AM will have a very tough time of it. Advantage Bama.

Coaching is also suspect as it has been for several years. I will give CMR credit as he does have us competing for the National Championship for the first time in a very long time, and I am happy about that. But he is no Nick Saban. Enough said. Advantage Bama.

Our defense is playing the best they have all year. Our LB's and DB's are the best of the SEC. Advantage Dawgs.

Our running game has the best 1-2 combo in College Football and just Freshman to boot. Advantage Dawgs.

Special teams I will call it as a toss up.

I like having Alabama on a somewhat nuetral site. We have more talent than Bama does and this will be a huge adavantage to us. I will not pick a score but I will say this like I said about the gaytors. We will outscore them and win and then compete against Notre Dame in S. Florida. I think what Shawn Williams did was huge and woke up a very talented sleeping giant.

If I am wrong it will be the Cap One or Outback for us. The gaytors will get the Sugar Bid being 11-1 and ranked 3rd in the BCS. Tough to swallow but that is how it is.

I am satisfied that we are competing for the NC that is all I have ever said on this board is that we compete for it. So this season is a win for me regardless what happens against Alabama.

Now other comments please.

Great post ogredawg.

Will have to admit that our OL has gotten much better BUT against weak opponents....even GSU sacked AM. THE key to Saturday's game imo. Do feel we can give AM a little time to throw the ball against their front. They are similar to UF in they don't pass rush as well as they stop the run.

Also agree that BAMA has the coaching advantage but once in a while immense talent can overcome better coaching especially if we don't turn the ball over. We will have to play 4 perfect quarters of ball.....the good news is that we are peaking right now and have a lot of momentum. We need to take the opening drive down and score.......that would set the tone. If BAMA comes out and crams it down our throats, it will be a long day.......hey Dawgs, remember how you came out and smacked UF in the mouth??

One point I hope you are right on but won't believe it until I see it......BAMA has one heck of an OL with two premier RB's in Yeldon and Lacy. Don't discount those two especially behind that OL, not sure Gurshall is better than Lacy and Yeldon, both are very physical and can take it to the house. BAMA's OL may be the best in the country, so our D had better be ready to play their most physical game of the year.

Finally.....you predicted the UF win, so I'm counting on your prediction this Sat as well.....thank you sir!!

Agreed, our o line will face a monster test come Saturday. They have matured somewhat but they will need to play like we have never see them play before. This game will be decided in the trenches. I like the matchup between our wide outs and their dbs, they can be beat. Bobo can't forget to run even if it only gets a few yards. Make sabans defense play honest and I believe we will find some success, maybe even see Richt's trick play if we can establish the run.

I wasnt even born in 1980. I want this national title. Just one more game to get there.

'Bama is by far the best team we've faced all season. BOTH lines, "O" and "D" are superior to ours. Their linebacking corps may not have JJ in it, but it's still VERY solid. Their secondary is the "weakest" part of their "D", and that's not saying much - they had a bad outing against Texas A&M, but they are still VERY good. I don't see us getting 100 yards on the ground. Airmail is our only option, I'm afraid.

Fortunately, airmail gives us our best shot with the talented receivers we have this year.

Where I fear we lose this game is the fact that our "D" can't stop the run. I'm afraid it's that simple. 'Bama can just run between their tackles all night and hog the ball.

In the end, we MIGHT be able to squeak one by if ALL of our offensive weapons can hit this next Saturday. If I was Bobo, I'd try to get guys like Marshall the ball IN THE AIR. In space, he can work on 'Bama's defense, and if we can bring their safeties up close, we MIGHT be able to get someone behind them.

I'm pessimistic about this game - but optimistically so.

Edit: [The odds makers have installed 'Bama as a 7.5 to 8.5 point favorite - not as bad as I thought it would be, and it'll tighten up by Friday - probably settling at 7.]

I would not go as far to say that thier D line is superior to ours. We match up well with them in that aspect. As far as thier O line yes very very good front. Bama will be moving the ball on the ground just like they have done all year. I think that our LB's and DB's will be up for the task and Big #6 and #99 along with Jordan Jenkins are playing the best ball they have played all year and will be ready. #9 and #29 will be all over the field and Bama's O line will be keying on #29 giving Jordan Jenkins a shot have having the best game of his young career.

This D has changed and matured since Williams soft comments. Look at how #45 has played the last 3 games. We have way too much talent for the Alabama offense and it will show Dec 1st.

A lot here may disagree but I really like our chances especially on a neutral field.

Let the hatred and underestimation of the SEC, and UGA in particular, begin.

Pat Forde:

My friend Clay Travis, who runs the excellent SEC blog, "Outkick the Coverage," was the voice of SEC arrogance Sunday morning on Twitter. Quoth Clay: "Notre Dame will be destroyed by either Alabama or Georgia. Seventh best team in SEC. At best."

Let me repeat that I'm a fan of Clay's and enjoy his work, but this is ridiculous. Notre Dame may indeed lose the national title game, but I don't foresee a blowout and an Irish victory would not be an outlandish outcome (especially if the opponent is Georgia).
