Surprised something along these lines hasn't already been posted in this thread, but were we not having basically the exact same discussion after starting 0-2 last year? We made a comeback by winning the 10 straight games that we should have won (and yes, we should have won the Auburn and FL games last year...both on paper and in reality) and then...crapped the bed in the SEC championship and our bowl game...against ranked opponents.

Hate to be Debbie Downer here, but minus Ben Jones we're talking about the exact same group of leaders, both on the field and on the sidelines, as we had last year...why should we expect anything different this year, even if we do beat Florida?

Maybe I'm just wallowing in self-pity, but 16 of 18 says it all in my mind. We've lost 16 of the last 18 to ranked opponents...pretty sure those 2 wins were against the number 24 and 25 teams in the country at the time...both of which ended up unranked at the end of the season. (may be wrong on this)

Until DRASTIC changes are made in Athens, I'll go into every game against unranked opponents expecting a win and every game against ranked opponents expecting a loss...that is not how I'd like to spend my fall Saturdays.

most on this board were happy with just that.......espousing how we won 10 straight against no bodies....saying we are 10-2 we won 10 straight we are going to the SEC championship game.....we are so happy that Arkansas and LSU helped us back into the SEC East......we are just so excited that CMR is the greatest....he has us on the right path blah blah blah......now this year we win 5 straight and get exposed for the third time yes the third time in less than 2 years (Remember UCF and Michigan State in the bowl games) and the kool aid ceases to flow.......a few on this board have been warning of this debacle for a few years some longer than that...........but oh well I digress......now I look forward to tomorrows happy face thread........

ogredawg......don't believe there are going to many if any happy face threads.....or debates on CMR anymore.

I know I give......filled up with the kool-aid as well but have taken a long bathroom break.

Ogre, most on this board would probably consider me one of the conductors of the CMR Excitement Express last year, and rightfully so...I definitely had the Richt-colored glasses on...was even holding out hope through the first part of this year, ignoring the obvious warning signs. Not showing up for the first half of any game this year (minus Vandy) against completely inferior competetition, amped up SEC newbie Mizzou included, SHOULD have been more than enough to at least make me wary. Alas, I fell trap to something I alluded to in a post a few days ago...superior talent overcoming inferior coaching. As I said in that post, at this point no win, versus ranked foe or not, can convince me that any "signature win" will be more than that...superior talent overcoming inferior coaching.

God-given talent alone wins games on the schedule that are "should wins"...honing that talent through coaching is what gets you the "must wins." It's definitely time we get a coach with the ability, AND THE DESIRE to get us those must wins.
