Started to say it amazes me, not the truth. Many of us now know that many of the people that follow UGA football have been conditioned. Richt came on board, looked better than anything we had walking the sidelines for quite some time. That is now what I call carry over, living in the past.
Seems to me a simple question has needed to be answered for at least 5-6 years. How can any one head coach at a major school retain his job when he can't answer the bell for the last round. Mark Richt was knocked out by Spurrier three years ago, and there does not seem to be any relief in sight. Relief meaning Mark Richt being able to manage a game for four quarters. The game in Columbia proves that point, lost for 4 quarters.
Notice that Georgia Tech has released Groh, like it or not, shows a head coach that cares about winning, or maybe keeping his job. At least there is some movement. We get the same party line every year.
What happened against UCF, Michigan State, years at JAX. Remember Spurrier bringing his forces to Athens and the end result. Blackouts, no thanks, win football games on the field. Recently there was a call to wear Red . . . . how frigging novel, Red in Sanford Stadium, who would have thought. As mentioned, get back to work, watch film, continue on the same path that allowed the above to happen. One fact for sure, at some point someone is going to step up and make changes. Might be that will happen after the President leaves.
Said many times recently that I saw change in Mark Richt and liked what I saw. What a dumb ass I am. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, chances are it's a duck. Comment not pointed to you duck. You understand.
In our free time, need to go back and look at this marvelous coaching record and check out the teams we beat that make the record so top heavy. I have looked, it is not impressive at all. Then check the teams that were on equal footing for 11 years, the history is there.
Edit: Here are some quotes from former UGA players. Can you pick those that played for Mark Richt and those that did not.
Former UGA and Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis: “I don’t care what anybody says, when you’re the #5 team in the nation, you DON’t give a performance like this, period!!”
Indianapolis Colts offensive tackle George Foster: “I’ve never been this ticked about a game I didn’t play in. I never thought I’d see a UGA team not show up for 4 whole quarters.”
Chicago Bears defensive back Tim Jennings: South Carolina is a tough place to play in!! Not to forget that they just tougher than us right now also
Former center Ben Jones, now with the Houston Texans: I bleed red and black no matter what happened tonight. The dawgs will bounce back.
Falcons linebacker Akeem Dent: When my Dawgs hurt….I hurt!!! I still bleed red & black
Drew Butler, punter with Pittsburgh Steelers: South Carolina is about to be ranked #3. Could have been UGA. Smarter to save it for the end of the season. Long road ahead.
Cleveland Browns receiver Mohamed Massaquoi: STILL LOVE MY DAWGS!
Bengals tight end Orson Charles: I still bleed red and black and still love my Dogs keep y’all head it’s a long season
