Would love to have SS or the Tides main man, but that's not going to happen. We haven't had a HC since VD that was worth his salt, and even he was not liked by all on this board. He turned a program that was in horrible shape around and won a bunch of games he probably should have lost. He was a leader wheather you liked him or not. I know Buc I may be stepping on your toes, sorry, sometimes we disagree, buts that's life. Please don't tell me tg, our defenseless defense coach. Not impressed. Would love to here everyones suggestion, no joke.
As always GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!
DawgDoc, whether you know it or not, I along with others are really glad to see you posting again. Know that you have some years on me, but gives me something to shoot for.
Really hard for me to name someone, but if I had my choice, my choice right now . . . . Kirby Smart. He took a look earlier as you and others on this board know, but he made the right decision if we look back and see what has transpired since he said no to his school.
One reason that I would want Kirby is because he has studied under the best, doubt many could or would argue that point.
Another reason is he knows the Southeast like the back of his hand.
Third thing, Saban has not allowed Kirby Smart to stay on his staff just because he is an excellent recruiter, Kirby knows the defensive game and also how to teach it. Learned from the best. That by the way was not VD.
Saban had a sit down with Kirby about making lateral moves, and it appears that little talk with Saban may have paid off. Job comes open at UGA, I would have a hissy fit if he was not offered first. I would be all over McGarity's bottom if that call was not made. Time is now right, that is what Saban basically said to Kirby . . . . you make the deal, not anyone else.
Makes all of the sense in the world for Kirby to "return home" . . . . his school needs him in the worst way, right now.
Our best chance of standing tall against Florida, South Carolina and all of the rest could be residing in Tuscaloosa right now, and his name is not Saban.
Just a thought, "old fart". You belong here, one of the folks that made this board what it is.
