2012 STARTING LINEUP

It does seem a little fogy right now who's the starting lineup might be. But I do believe who's coming back and who's already sign with the Dawgs last month tells me if we get Montravious Adams and other players that want to be SEC football players, the Dawgs should/hopefully win out the upcoming season.

Also I so much agree about the academics side, if we get kids in here with their head half way on straight there shouldn't be any off the field trouble...at less big trouble anyway.

So this thread is about UGA and starting lineup and other things. Thought I would add one of those other things that I try to keep an eye on.

Alabama opened Spring Practice, and after reading the article below, really fortifies why Saban as head coach is so far ahead of many others in the coaching profession. Last year with a National Championship Team he was looking ahead to this year. Know that some on this board and others are not thrilled with Saban, he however understands the Crystal and how you get there.

Edit: Watching Saban deliver where he thinks this team is and the way he has prepared this offensive group for the 2012 season, especially the offensive line. Folks this is what separates Saban from the rest. Saban has complete confidence in himself and those that he chooses to surround him.

Preparation wise, I don't feel that our offensive side of the ball has that type of leadership. Will we get there, I don't know. Keep crossing my fingers, although I know that crossed fingers don't build National Championships or SEC Championships.

Single biggest change that I can see so far is Coach Grantham and his hires making a difference in two years. Maybe the other side of the ball, talking about leadership from the coaches can catch up. Year after year they have the talent, but we still seem to be stuck with a hanful of plays that we have ran for the past several years. If the offense does not break out this year, especially with the talent that is on campus and coming to Athens, whether you like the moral fiber or whatever, there will be a hot seat. Anytime that you have the President of your university come out a second time and ask for Fan/Student support, there is something going on.

If you read this and think it is negative, say so. If you and I want to wind up chasing Saban and others, we have been on that path since Saban arrived in the SEC. Hard to deny . . . eh . . .

I'm okay with not winning if we go down swinging. If we get beat by a better team that's fine as long as we left EVERYTHING on the field. But I must say if the O side of the ball does not open it's play book and we don't win because we can't move the ball and are running the SAME plays we have for the past 3 years now then that's when I have a problem.

We have every bit of talent to go all the way this year to play a VERY good USC (that cali team). Even though that Jack @ss kiffin is the coach that is a good team. And would love to see JJ knock some of those guys in the mouth and laugh at those coach's (if their still there) who told him he would never play again. I think even some of the 2nd string can carry this team as much talent is in Athens this year. I would love to see rotating 4 running backs every game. Some games I would love to see 6 different backs play.

stanger, many say that we need to have that one back that totes the mail. Quite frankly, haven't seen that done with regularity for some time. Now we see the NFL going in the direction of "more than one" and it makes a lot of sense. Defenses are too big, too fast, too strong for one young back to take the full load. Football has changed. Back in the day Herschel Walker could do what he did. I would bet that he could not do that in this day and time. That is not a shot at one of the greatest backs ever, that is where football is today versus the 1980's. Check the size of the D lines and the speed of the D lines then and now. That is like comparing the military in 1940 and today. Might not be a good comparison, does not miss the target too far.

I don't want to go around chasing my tail. That is truly what I think we have done in Athens for far too long. This year we have tailbacks and fullbacks that many colleges across the country would love to have, they are licking their chops at thoughts of the folks that are on campus and will be wearing the Red and Black in 2012.

Our head coach is going to get an extension and I suppose that means he gets a monetary boost. When we have offensive coaches that make over 5 million a year (combined), sorry, I expect more. We basically run about 5 plays year after year, guess that comes to one million per play call.

We have Coach Grantham, now he is supposedly being paid less that BVG and I look at what Grantham has done in a short time span, am I missing something . . . We have an offensive side of the ball that does not have a set O line. We are talking about moving or using Mitchell on both sides of the ball. Explain to me someone why we go through this year after year.

I am trying to be careful, hoping for the best. Allow me this question.

Where is the leadership? Is Mark Richt a victim of circumstance or is he a spectacular recruiter and not a leader on the football field. Remember this, his position when playing football was quarterback. Is that a qualification for Head Coach at UGA? Just asking . . . . where has the improvement on UGA's football team been noticeable . . . . We have two ex-quarterbacks running the offense, and a new hire or two on the defense. Please explain to me why all of these young folks on the O side go on to the NFL and do very well, and we continue to run those four or five plays, game after game.

While many on this board and others might not like my questions, the questions that myself and others ask are either this . . . . EASY OR HARD TO ANSWER.

Been a huge Dawg Supporter for a lot of years, I am however one that will ask questions. Sometimes it is hard to get folks to come up and play point and counter point. Know what I mean?

Go Dawgs, Lots of talent (again). We will take another look after 2012. Schedule looks good . . . YES?
