AllDawgs5 we both know that continuity in the coaching staff is just as important if not more important than any other facet of college football.
We look at LSU for example. Many things being thrown Miles way (dumb stuff) but what is the outcome. Miles as a speaker, far from the best, gets off of that podium and does what it is that he does best. Recruit and apparently looking at his results, is a pretty good football coach. Think it was Richt that said trying to get a player from the State of Louisiana is next to impossible.
That is what I am saying about Coach Grantham, while he is a better speaker than Miles (my opinion) he has this thing about him that football players like. Give a UGA fan a choice of a good coach or a good speaker, not much of a decision to be made.
If some on here are judging Coach Grantham because he had two times where he showed emotion and that is what prevents him from becoming a head coach. Falls on my deaf ears. What Coach Grantham has done is prove that solid coaching can take a team and its fans and alumni and wipe those scowls off and replace them with smiles.

Not judging CTG for his emotion, but as the leader, you have to keep that emotion in check. If CTG could have fought Franklin right then, he would have. He gets in a fist fight right there, what would that say to his kids? If someone says something that offends you, fight them? Those are situations that will get you terminated in a hurry. Have not doubt in my mind, had CTG actually gotten in a fight, Mac would have fired him the next day. Don't want him being fired for something like this. Everyone has to be held accountable for their actions. Yes, Franklin is a punk, and that is just it, CTG is not. Don't stoop to his level. I would have simply told Franklin, you worry about coaching your players, I will worry about coaching mine. And thanks for giving me extra motivation to kick the piss out of you next year. Would have said it very calmly and walked away. But you better believe, when Vandy week came around the next year, all would be remembered.
With that being said, definitely don't want those situations being held against CTG. They should bare no weight in him becoming our HC. The only thing they need to be used for, is simply for a learning experience.
GO DAWGS

We all agree Franklin's a jerk.
I seriously doubt if Coach Grantham was head coach, Franklin would have started any thing.
Interesting that he went after an assistant.
It's only a short time before he's on every team's s#!t list.

The thing I like so much about CTG is the fact that firstly he is a great leader, now to lead by example, secondly he says what on his mind, third he is not a procrastinator, and last but not least, he brings out the best in his subordinates. This I believe will get him the Head coaching job at UGA in two years when CMR gets the program where he feels comfortable in putting it in someone elses hands. CMR can thank his lucky stars for CTG, his presence gave new direction to CMR's coaching career and he has displayed his pleasure on the sidelines as of late. GO CTG AND CMR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AD5... I have a lot of nuanced positions. It's always yes, if this, and if this, and so on...
I'm just trying to say just as you did that the title HC in waiting means nothing.
I'm not a fan of things that mean nothing, so no I don't really want to hand that title
out. Grantham is already just about defacto HC in waiting anyway, so it's pointless.

Franklin also let his type of crap carry over into the next game. Showed his butt after the game was over. Should not do this but . . . . Tennessee beat Vandy in OT. . . right . . .
Only place I am in total disagreement with AD5 is this . . . McGarity would have fired Coach Grantham that night, not the next day. We have leadership in the front office. McGarity has the UGA Train back on the tracks.
