Junk Yard Dawgs MAYBE????

Mike what Grantham has and is giving in Athens disappeared some years back. There have been a couple of quotes on this board over a period of time alluding to the fact that teams are not worried about coming to Sanford Stadium. Truthfully, they were right. Won't be the case too much longer. Erk reincarnated.

Buc and others,

Many words have passed over this board re: CTG

Some worried that he may leave to be a HC. I do not seeing that in his near future.

His love is defense and he and his family love the Athens area and UGA,he is keenly aware that his guys are together and heading in the right direction. Man loves what he doing and who he has to coach.

Next year Ray Drew will be another piece or brick in the wall, money says the 2012 class will also bring some bodies that CTG will play as freshman.

Buc, ain't no question that Erk would take great pride in the group and how they love to blow up plays and get after people.

This defense in the very near future will be the talk of college football.

Go Dawgs!

I think about that every time I see the Ford commercials starring Mark Richt. He states in that
commercial that when people play Georgia they know they've been hit or something like that.

Every time I see it I think to myself "not until we hired CTG" 'cause it sure wasn't like that
with WM.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Brothers, don't know if you guys check dawgtime.com out all the time. I make it a point to keep up with the happenings there. Today there is a good clip with Grantham, and another with IC.

One little tid bit that I have picked up in my snooping around is that the "team" has not held IC in the highest regard. Here is hoping the young freshman understands that he truly has a "team" surrounding him. This group will go to the "proverbial wall" with IC, if he will hitch his wagon up to this team of football players and do his part. Doing IC's part can be much more than has been shown thus far.

I believe this . . . IC might finally realize that this is the SEC, the best of the best play football in this conference. Just like the heavens on a clear night, there are many "bright stars" not just one. If IC has that figured out and does his part, he will be "one of the toasts of the town", not the only one.

Crossed fingers for IC, said it one other time on this board recently, he can be "all that". What he has done since he arrived on campus, I can release from my thoughts. Happens again, won't have any more wavering thoughts about Richt and his methods, it won't work. Now folks, that is fair.

Great points YD1...I know it's a pretty common cliche, but it's true that the best programs don't rebuild, they reload. Grantham is quickly convincing me that as long as he's running the show on defense, we won't have to rebuild again for a loooong time.

The great, and not so great, thing about college football, and sports in general, is the role that momentum plays. Lose it and it can be EXTREMELY tough to get back on your side (i.e., the past few seasons) BUT get it swung back in the right direction and it can literally infect an entire program. I'm not saying CTG is single-handedly responsible for the positive momentum we currently have, BUT I wholeheartedly believe the fire he's brought back to the defense has infected the rest of the organization. And that goes from the youngest player on the scout team, all the way up to the bozo...er, I mean Bobo that calls our plays, as well as CMR.

Erk's schemes were only half of what made him such a great coach...if that. At least half, if not more, was the sheer passion he had for his players and his program...not saying that CTG is Erk, BUT the passion is finally back in Athens.

yankeedawg1, you always make a lot of sense. Not bad for a converted . . . . won't say it.

Myself and some others on this board have been around this ABUURN thingy for more years than most of us like to admit. This game means a lot when it comes to the recruiting wars. Mentioned Chizik and his "hoopty" ways couple of days ago. When you are winning, that goes a long way, appears to be a fun place to be associated with. That type of showmanship will only carry you so far, comes a time when you have to produce and that means year after year. Ring a bell maybe, blackouts and that sort of thing.

Dang right I like the way Saban coaches football. No pazazz with him, hard work. Think we all remember what Saban and his team did to us in Athens. Excuse the expression, he "called the dogs off" could have been much worse. Grantham has been around Saban and other great coaches, appears to me that some of their strengths rubbed off on him.

Don't care what you do in life to make a living or playing football looking for something extra. If you have someone that does not play favorites, whether civilian or military or whatever, as long as the deck is not stacked, chances are all will give their best. Those that don't stack up go the route that a couple of our running backs did this season. Whipped dogs usually put their tails between their legs and haul butt.

Apologize for getting long again, know my evaluation sheet says that Grantham and his attitude has turned the Red and Black into Silver Britches again. Suits me.

I have done the civilian thingy, I have done the military thingy. Both have to have leadership and we have that on one side of the ball. Other side, I hope takes notes and watches leadership in action. This UGA defense is not far off, getting closer every practice to making all of us proud to be Dawgs and the "outsiders" a bit "timid" when stepping on the Sanford Stadium turf.

I don't like ABUURN. . . . That is just the way "old farts are". :)
