It wasn't a "muscle car" per se, but my first car was a two door '71 Galaxy 500 with a 351 Windsor. What a simple car . . . man, I wish I still had that thing. "When" I win the lottery, I'm gettin' a Boss 302 (of course, the black one with all that red trim!). :woohoo:

Your '71 with a 351 Windsor would "qualify" in the muscle car hobby (maybe not the protypical muscle). The 351 Windsor was a great running engine.

Btw, older Boss 302 (like a '69 or '70) or the new one?

My Goat was just a 4 barrel hardtop. Still a helluva car. I'm sure you know it's credited as
ushering in the muscle car era because it was one of the first to take a light bodied mid
sized car (Lemans/Tempest) and drop the biggest motor they could fit into it.

My brother ended up bending the frame on it, and at the time I didn't have the money to
invest in it to fix it back up so I sold it to someone who did.

I did restore two other cars... a 70 Mustang and the 64 Pontiac Catalina, but I got to a
point in life where having the money and time to continue on with that sort of thing
was not a priority.

I'm still into muscle cars, but only as an observer. I'm just outside of Atlanta, and
I do still go to local car shows and watch Barrett-Jackson auctions and anything else
on TV regarding cars. So I'm still into them to a degree, but my money is invested in
my children and early retirement, lol

I do however have some plans to eventually acquire another one. I'll always have an
affinity for the 389, so it may very well be another Pontiac.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Junk Yard Dawgs . . . .

Thinking about the past few years and the attitude of our team and maybe coaches. We can only speak for ourselves, so . . .

The turn around by the defense has been better than good. I credit Grantham for that. He is a no nonsense leader that will always push these young pups to get better. Not quick to heap praise on an individual, unless the individual is really performing at a high level.

With the defense improving drastically and I think the D has, it has carried over to the offensive side of the ball. Pups over there are taking on the attitude that Grantham has instilled on the D side. Slowly but surely this group of players are becoming a seriously proud bunch. That is offense and defense. I am not knocking anyone that works with and teaches on the O side. It just appears that in the second year of Grantham's rule, both sides have figured out that some of these coaches are working hard to make the team better.

If we look back at (He asked for it) Martinez, he did not, does not have the same type of leadership that is required for a Junk Yard Defense. The opportunity was here, the players were here, the coaching ability was not. If it had been, WM would still be here, or would be the defensive coordinator at a school that needed his services as a leader. Pretty clear to me.

I am not the first person to say this, not on this board or elsewhere. This bunch of pups are getting to the point that they are good, if you believe in ratings. What will the defense look like with a couple more years under their belts? Slowly but surely we are creeping up on a couple of the "Big Boys". We know who they are. Grantham and his group of coaches are on a mission, we have to like that. What is not to like? They will stumble on occasion, but will not forget the mistakes made and be better for the lesson that Grantham and his group will repair as needed.

uga.dawgs mentioned Jarvis Jones. He is all that and will get better, both physically and mentally. Not sure he meeds any more physicality, however the learning never stops when you have a headmaster like Grantham. Ogletree was pulled into the "7 mix" for a reason, might have more talent that Jarvis. Great signing by Richt, correct move by Grantham bringing him into the box.

This weeks game as we all know is going to be watched by a lot of promising young folks out there that want to play in the SEC. We do our job, feel that there will be a couple of "surprises" before the February deadline. I hear rumors, but right now, that is exactly what they are, rumors.

Am I totally on the wagon, nope. Let me put that another way, I like this group of "team" players that the coaches have assembled in Athens, who would not like this group at any college in the country.

I am a big fan of ogredawg on this board. He calls it like he sees it, can't ask for much more. ogredawg told us that Jenkins would become a special player in Athens, after watching all of the games that he has played in thus far, excites the heck out of me. He is one of the people that I was speaking of earlier, although most of that chatter was about Grantham. Jenkins came to town not knowing exactly what to expect, he has since the season progressed, figured it out. Watch that cat in the middle, takes up a lot of space. Other side to that, Jenkins coming made Kwame wake up and realize just how much talent he (Kwame) has.

Have to stop, could write pages. My sincere hope is that we play to our capabilities this Saturday. If we do that, a lot of things are going to change in Athens Town, soon.

Go Dawgs, and hope this is not the invisible ink that sadlerdawg mentioned. I do not like Abuurn!

Good read Buc...thanks for posting! Above all else, there is one thing I appreciate the most about Grantham's approach. I LOVE that he brought an NFL coaching mentality to Athens. Specifically, he came in and made it clear from day one that the best players will play. It doesn't matter if you're 3, 4, or 5 star; a true freshman or a 5th-year senior, if you deserve to be on the field and you give us the best shot at winning, you will play. I think we see that spreading throughout the offense as well. Not only is he doing an incredible job of putting us in position to win on the Saturday's of the '11 season...he's building depth for '12 and beyond...if we're not "junkyard" yet, it definitely won't be long.

So is the old one...AND it will keep its value or more.

Wart.....love the GTO 389 tri-power and yes, the '64 was credited with being the 1st real muscle car.
