Not sure about the overall lack of activity, but I heard the 1st quarter suspension was due to a missed academic assignment...I'm guessing a tutoring session or something like that.

Mike Honcho wrote: In my opinion, the absolute BEST thing that could happen this Saturday is for Harton to have a coming out party to the tune of 150+ yards and a TD or two. Then (and don't string me up when I say this) give Harton the start against Auburn and at least let him play the first quarter and make IC sit on the sideline and sweat about losing his starting job. Don't suspend him for a quarter like against Vandy...in fact, don't say a word to him about starting status, depth chart, etc. Just make his arse sit there and wonder why he isn't playing.

You can see it in his body language on the field from time to time, he's about one "SEC player of the week" award from being a complete diva with a giant sense of entitlement...suspending him for a game against a cupcake team will only teach him so much. He needs to legitimately fear for this starting role...

Mike, there is no reason for Harton not to make a big splash this Saturday. Home game, offensive line beginning to get ugly (mean that in the best sense) and push folks around. Watching Gates after replacing Lee against Florida, he was super. Gates will definitely start at left guard next season. One more year under JTII and Friend, huge. Great pro size for Gates, keep your head screwed on young fellow, money will be there.

Sorry about that started with Harton and got caught up in Gates. Harton is not chopped liver. Cat has moves and I venture to say has backbone. Looking forward to Saturday's game with UGA playing the "scrubs" and I use that word only because I want so badly for him to succeed. Can't do that sitting on the bench.

Mike have a question for you . . . How much did Crowell's performance aid us winning in JAX? Next man up, right number 22. Eleven (11) men on the field for the offense, and one is the shining star.

Like stanger said, we are looking at running backs, just don't slip up again and forget where the games are won and lost coach. Line play wins football games, whether you are a running team or passing team, have to have the "Big'uns".

Absolutely agree with you on Gates...and that's what we need to see more of, people taking FULL advantage of the shots given to them...just like we saw from RS in the game against the ga...gato...see, I hate them so much I can't even say their name.

As for IC's contribution to the win last week, I don't think he did much, but honestly I think part of that was because of Richt not using him like he normally would. Even though I doubt his coaching choices from time to time, I don't for a second think Richt is a dishonest man and I'm taking him at his word that the drug test results weren't back before last weekend's game, BUT, I also believe what I've heard about the test being ADMINISTERED last Thursday. I'm sorry, you don't pop a drug test on a kid two days before the biggest rivalry game unless there's reason to suspect he'll fail it. Maybe he hurt his shin, maybe he didn't, but I do think he was being punished a bit last Saturday for even putting himself in the position of having to take a test.

I'm trying not to pile on IC too much too soon...he's a young kid and his head has to be absolutely spinning. One day he's got a few clips on youtube, the next he's the starting running back for what is historically known as "Tailback U" while trying to transition from high school to college...he has to be a bit overwhelmed. It's not an excuse for anything he's done, I guess I'm just hoping he'll mature rapidly and these "issues" won't resurface. Like TN Dawg said earlier, I just pray that guys like JJ and the like are slamming him into lockers telling him to get his stuff together...he has way too much talent to flush it down a bong.

Maybe I expect too much, but I expect more of what I see from RS out of IC...namely this. If you can, go back and watch RS at the end of even a 3 or 4 yard run...he can't WAIT to get his hands on the ball again. IC on the otherhand, rips off a big run and then heads for the sidelines. I'm sorry but if I had the chance to tote the rock for UGA as a freshman, tired or not, you would literally have to drag my tail out of the huddle to get me off the field.

Sorry for the rant, to get back to your question, I think IC did little to contribute to our win. I think the O-line did MUCH more in that regard...IC did have a few long runs and a couple of key conversions, BUT with the running lanes he was given, I'm pretty confident any one of our backs could have had the same results. Hopefully it's being done behind the scenes but he definitely needs to be reminded of the "big team, little me" concept. Having talent is great, but if you squander it and become a cancer to the rest of the team you may as well be playing for the opposition.

Don't know how many thousands of words have been written about Crowell, if any of us think he does not read or understand what is being said, something is wrong with this picture.

He is one player on scholarship at the University of Georgia, located in Athens, Georgia.

If you are above that Crowell, maybe you could replace Ealey in Jacksonville. Ealey would probably leave, he does not like competition and you could continue on your path of destruction.

Folks, this is the third time that we know of that Crowell has shown his "total disregard" for rules. Remember this, Crowell is a Freshman. Books make him sick. Does not like to get up in the morning, likes to sleep in, smoke some reefer or substitute. Does not like JTII and his way of getting in shape. This is the dude that breathes heavily after 4 or 5 carries, signals the sideline that he needs a breather. If that is wrong, tell us. If you agree with that approach, tell us.

The cold, hard facts of what we have seen to this point from Crowell don't add up to a "team player".

Some have said on this board today that kicking Crowell to the curb is not the right way to approach Crowell. Well, tell me how the staff at UGA is going to turn this young diamond in the rough around. Could not turn somewhere around 5 or 6 backs around prior to Crowell hitting campus. Do the coaches all of a sudden have a formula?

Coaches are letting him practice, wonder why. Probably keep him ready for Auburn. I go along with Mike on that issue, let him sit. stanger did not defend Crowell today in his thread. Means something to me. Rest of you that like the way this offense is heading, hitch your wagon up, there is more to come. Will be interesting to see the outcome if Crowell remains on the same path that he has chosen to this point.

You won't see me defend him! Like I said sense Boise State I don't like the way he carries himself on the field. My wife said it best 5 weeks ago when she saw him get out of his car and did not have a clue who it was at the time " who's that hood rat " kid needs a rude awakening.

They can refuse to let his scholarship go and wouldn't that hold him to UGA for at least a year (scholarships are on a year to year basis)? Problem is, this year is about over. If he asks for a release into next year, say after spring practice, could they say no to a release and hold him on the bench through 2012. All hypothetical but trying to answer ChemDawg's benching idea that maybe it could be done.

Moot point.....if he asked for a release they would give it to him anyway.
