Apologize

Not to be a Richt supporter (if I was, would that make me an athletic supporter? ), but I just saw that video for the first time. Richt had no idea what had just happened - he wasn't standing anywhere near the fray. His "apology" was nothing more than calming down a peer who (Franklin) was HIMSELF way out of line and too fired up. I've done the same thing calming down my wife, and I'll bet many on this site have too, "I'm sorry dear". It doesn't mean, "I accept blame". It really means "Calm your @#%! down - you're acting like a fool and it doesn't look good in front of this camera, cry baby". I work in customer service all the time, and if you think I'm taking blame just because I say "sorry", then you are fooling yourself.

I'm in favor of firing Richt (unless we whip Florida and make them look silly doing it . . . that will tend to calm me down a lot), but on this issue I don't think I can find fault with him. Or Grantham for that matter. Franklin is the one who looks like he needed to tone his "act" down a lot. His post game press conference makes him look like a jackass - "we're not taking it anymore". Oh yes you are, Vandy, you're taking it every time and you'll be grateful.

I put this thread up, climbed in my truck and went to my local VA clinic. Reason I say that is, when after returning and seeing BulldogShannon' comment about the foxhole, swear to you I was going to mention that to sadlerdawg. Not sure BulldogShannon, were you in the corps?

Sorry, have to repeat this again. Richt is not going to give up the money, don't care if he can make money elsewhere, he stated he wanted to remain at UGA for his entire career. Walking in the footsteps of Bobby Bowden, his mentor. Only difference between the two, Bowden won the MNC. Will never happen with Richt, players do not appreciate this kind of back stabbing. Don't forget, he also gave up on the offensive side of the ball in Memphis. The same damn offense that he put Bobo in charge of. What is wrong with this picture? I know.

While I don't disagree with a lot of the comments here, I find it interesting and "selective reading" that nobody commented on the rest of the article.....so I'll paste it below...


Remarkably, the anti-Richt crowd in Georgia is already complaining that Richt should not have backed down, should have acted more like Grantham, etc, etc.

That’s nonsense, of course. Richt showed class as he usually does. Subtract the “cl” and you have what Grantham showed. There’s a reason UGA athletic director Greg McGarity said yesterday that Grantham would “do some things differently” if given a second chance

thriller, respectfully disagree on this one. 1) it isn't Richt's job to calm that idiot down. 2) If he wanted to calm him down simply say, "Let me gather facts and we'll take it from there."

2) I didn't say CMR called his player a dumbass. I'm saying IF he called his own 20 year old kid a dumbass in order to calm Franklin down, that is pathetic. You can calm your wife down with out dogging your child, for example.

It's not selective reading, wlayton--I read that, and I think it's pretty obvious by my comment and others that we simply don't agree with the writer's opinion.

This isn't a Fire CMR forum but 90% of it certainly is Bashing CMR forum.

Geez, let's back off a little and talk a little more about the x's and o's....or SOMETHING else.
