Also, I'm glad he's not running quite as much, don't need him hurt (I know, I know, he can stay in the pocket and get hurt with our OL).

Now against UF, do ANYTHING to win that game, AM can run 20 times as long as we win.

1) Touche' Good point. TK is a servicable #2 WR. NOT a #1. Great hands good speed and tough. MM is FAST, great hands and also tough!

2) I disagree...with a young team like ours we need EVERy advantage we can get. Also with a line like ours...Murray needs to RUN FOR HIS LIFE! Stay healty and just run Murray. Run for 1st downs, run for TD's, run for your life! You just keep running!

3) TOTALLY AGREE!

Goooooo Dawgs...Sic'em...Woof Woof Woof!!!

I not saying don't run, just be smart when you do and get down etc. Prefer him not to run so much.....we have IC for that. We all will see just how valuable AM is if he was hurt and on the sidelines.

Personally I think the pass per completion metric is a little overrated. I think it is a system kind of thing.

If you look at the metric on a team basis as opposed to an individual basis then GT leads the nation at 26.4 yards per completion. I'm guessing since they only throw ~ 12 passes a game (if that) most of those yards are from tossing up the long ball to keep defenses honest.

The Dawgs as a team are clocking ~14 yards per completion which is right around where you think they should be.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't care how you look at it, AM has enough talent to average more than 8.3 yards per completion. In college ball, that's below average in my book.

GT......you're right, throw their stats out. They aren't a good measurment, not enough attempts.

Can't really put the yds per completion solely on AM's shoulders...he's playing behind a patchwork O-line that doesn't always give him time for the intermediate and deep routes. I'd PREFER to see his yds/completion down this year and his percentage up...means we're utilizing the short passing game to counter pass rush.

Not arguing with ya MH but the post question was if AM was having a good/bad year. However you slice it, 8.3 ypg ain't real good. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Few examples:

last year's whole season....

McElroy at BAMA.....13.45 average (old conservative BAMA)
Relf at MSU.......13.86 (he's terrible)
Newton at AU.....15,42 (obviously good but so is AM's arm)

I'll take 8.3 as long as we are winning and controlling the game like you were talking about though.;)

I try to read Buck Belue's scribblings when he puts new threads up. Most of the time I get a good chuckle, knowing that much of it has been either posted on our site or elsewhere. In this particular post he said something that really set me back. Remembering all of the flack that sent AM's way last season. Coaches not wanting him to use his legs. I will bold the type that I really found different than what I expected. Bobo was the one along with Richt that said No-No to the running game. Bobo is the same coach that Belue has been protecting through all of the miscues.

Murray: Big Jump in Performance
The 'Dogs have improved significantly, since the Boise State loss. It's taken Aaron Murray a little longer to get his act together, but I was impressed with his performance in Knoxville. It looked like the light has come on. Prior to the Tennessee game, he looked like a QB trying to be "All-World."
I believe he was just trying to do too much. Last weekend, he just played smart. And I noticed.
Against the Vols, he didn't get sacked and he did not throw an interception. The ball came out quick, because he made quick decisions. He took some shots, when those opportunities were there. Of course, they didn't hook up on all of those big-play opportunities, but that's the way it goes, when you are throwing it deep. The big-play throw to Malcolm Mitchell, on the long TD drive was huge.
Also enjoyed seeing him hurt the Vols defense with his legs. He did most of that early in the game. DC's are paying close attention to that too. On 3rd down, Aaron can pull it down and run for the 1st down. And that drives defenses crazy.

His numbers against Tennessee were: 15-24 (60%), for 227 yards. Rock solid. No picks. Again, no sacks. Good job, kid!
