Predictions

On the discussion of basically hiring a "green horn" and yes I know that is not the proper comment.

On this board no one pulled harder or threw more praise to the powers that are in Athens for the hiring Richt than myself. It was a beautiful thing until the walls of the fort started to crack and then collapse. I agree that there is somewhat of a rebuilding process going on, Grantham.

There will always be another hurdle to cross whether high or low. That is when the wheat is winnowed. Some make it over the high and low hurdles, others quite frankly cannot figure it out. Richt has had a terrible time ridding himself of the mistakes that he has made in judging coaching talent. Eleven years in, he is still having a problem with coaching hires. Facts are plain and simple facts.

As to 75% or whatever figure is correct. Using that number, I would suggest that some in that 75% percentile have a pretty good feel for what is and what isn't being done in Athens. Rather amazing when one looks at the coaches that left on their on and their accomplishments after leaving, versus the coaches that remain and their lack of accomplishment, especially in recent years. Maybe that is a good indicator that 75% know how to winnow the wheat and make it across both the high and low hurdles.

Would UGA be the ideal situation for KS? I think so. Also some of the other names being mentioned would also have a better than average chance of doing well in Athens.

As mentioned, Smart has been in the Southeast for most of his football life. He knows his way around and that has been proven under Saban. Kirby would be several steps ahead of the others mentioned because of his footprints in the Southeast, and at this point, UGA needs someone to hit the floor running. Kirby Smart does not walk, he runs. Would be a huge loss to Alabama, but if offered the head coaching job, Saban would shake his hand and thank him for his service and wish him well. Anyone successful in the coaching business that has studied under Saban have nothing but high praise for the man.

Remember Saban said to Smart, don't make a parallel move, now those words of wisdom have proven to be another Saban insight. Kirby listened and he will not only produce for UGA (if hired) he will fill UGA coffers both with money and wins. Not to mention his own pockets.

Kirby Smart decked in Red and Black, you betcha, that would be a beautiful thing and it needs to happen and happen soon.

As long as Adams has control, probably none of the above will happen. Adams controls period. Look at those that have dared stand against him. First UGA hire should be President of UGA.

75% was not referring to those realizing there are problems in Athens. The ole lady, unfortunately a ut fan and grad, knows there are problems in Athens. The 75% goes to those that want him gone no matter what. I am sure I will be ripped for it, but I am also betting those 75% really would not like to see us win out and make it to Atlanta. They know what that will mean. Because I am betting they are the ones making the comments,"damn we lost but at least now we can get a new coach." There is no way you can go from being that dang negative, to happy for a coach.

What if Richt wins 8 games this year? We fire a coach that is 104-38 with 2 SEC championships in 11 years. Hope the next coach does as well. I can tell you if he doesn't, and I was the school President, I like Mac but his arse would be gone. Luckily, I am no where near smart enough to be a school President.

Just playing scenario's, because to be honest CMR has done enough to keep his job, but he has also done enough to lose his job.

"One correction. I said everyone wants Richt gone. I guess I should have said 75% want him gone no matter what."

I definitely would like to see an upgrade at HC, but we have to be realistic. Fans of UGA still
want this years team to finish 10-2 and win the SEC east. If they do that, it's going to be
mighty tough to fire him.

I guess the perfect scenario everyone would want would be to finish like we want to finish, and then
have Richt himself choose to move on for his own personal reasons.

We here on this message board probably have a deeper understanding of all facets of the game, and
here 75% wanting him gone is probably an accurate figure. Out there in the rest of the general
population of UGA fans, probably a much higher percentage only look at the team record. If the
record is good, then that's all they see. Adams and the board would have to be in favor of
firing Richt, and I'm not positive they would see beyond record and monetary concerns either.
10-2, all is well financially... I just don't see them getting rid of Richt. I don't see 75%
there really saying they want Richt gone "no matter what".

God Bless and Go Dawgs

That is kind of my point. If we finish 10-2, or 9-3, why would the perfect scenario be for CMR to move on? Would that not be an improvement from last year?

No true fan of UGA would ever pull for the Dawgs to lose. You are right that some might and probably do say or think that way. Check the AJC our occasionally, the comment sections are full of those that go along with that line of thinking.

In my younger days I was pretty good with numbers. Anytime I see percentages posted, especially when football is being discussed, my antenna goes up and usually for good reason.

Richt's football coaching record has had volumes posted on this board. Those numbers will not and should not be overlooked by those that have a feel for what is truly going on in Athens.

I also understand taking the good with the bad, comes down to how far am I willing to go with the bad. I will always accept the good, somehow I do not tolerate the bad for any length of time. Have tolerated the bad for several years now, and for me that is enough. Do I think that we are coming out of the past and growing? Yes. Do I think that Richt can get back to where his supporters like to discuss his record? Maybe. Do I think that Richt understands the overall complexities of college football? No. Easy enough to see. Good offense, terrible defense. Seems as if it swings from one to the other.

Richt seems to like flash. Nothing wrong with that, but along with the flash, better have some grunts that are never given the limelight. I would make this wager (kidding) ;) If Smart was to become the head coach at UGA, the major changes that we would see would be the "grunts" on both sides of the ball. Yes I will say it, another lesson learned from Saban.

Is this not true? Defensive line looks awesome at this point. Where is the offensive line? Have read some posts complaining about losing players on the offensive line. Injuries. Every team has injuries. Would make this wager (kidding) ;) Saban's second string offensive line is better than our first string line man for man.

Does anyone on this board believe that IC if playing Alabama this year would look as good as he has thus far against Alabama? Why does Alabama and LSU seem to always find a way to the top? They don't have great quarterbacks. . . .they do have grunts. My suggestion would be coaching. We can laugh at Miles all we want, look where he is now.

One last note, players going out and getting in trouble, serious trouble, DUI's don't disappear after two games on a players record. Running the steps will never erase that DUI. Washington literally broke my spirit with what he did. Not a bigger supporter of his on this board. Will I give up on him, no. Something is wrong with the supposed "guidance" that is talked about in these young men's living rooms.
