Tale of Two Halfs

Okay I want to ask a question, and I hope it's fair...

Mullen made adjustments that exposed our mediocre line in the second half...

Shouldn't we able to make counter adjustments? I mean it seems we did something right in the
first half that enabled our O-line to be able to succeed despite their mediocrity. It seems
like a pretty big fall off from half to half to just attribute to State's adjustments unless
you throw in we didn't counter those adjustments very well.

Does that make sense?

I agree, wartdawg. The 2nd half against ole Miss wasn't very impressive either, and if these bottom feeding teams' coaches are able to "out-adjust" us at halftime, well....

Paul Johnson is the only coach that I've heard of that consistently makes blocking adjustments at half time but then again he is in a unique offense.

In this league even the less talented teams have studs that can be game changers. Against a running attack all the interior defenders are trying to do is grab grass and hold their ground till the backers or ends can get there.

Disappointing to hear about CW as well.

CMR does have the tendency to get more conservative with a big lead and he hopes to be able to run the ball and the clock (somewhat a weakness imo). Guess he is too careful. Also believe that's why he wanted that FG and a 3 TD lead as AD5 said....pretty hard for MSU to overcome that kind of a lead.

Mullen made adjustments to stop the run because he knew CMR was going to try and do just that.

And that's the coaching problem, again, wlayton. Waaaaaay too predictable. You knew what Richt was going to do, and so did Mullen, and that's why his coaching kept him in a game that should have been a runaway by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

CMR has a tendency to work the clock a little early imo.......but......bottom line was a win I guess.

When they did try to run some normal offense AM threw a pick 6.......hmmmmm.....catch 22?
