Adams and McGarity are on a collision course.
Adams has had his hands in the AD's cookie jar too long. He controlled Evans.
Adams likes Richt and his representation of the University.
Adams would never go for a Saban type. You know, the language and everything. Hence, the Grantham issues.
McGarity wants to win. The base wants to win. The donors wants to win.
Perhaps the real issue is Adams.
Without Adams, McGarity will take care of business, probably last year.

For some time now meaning more than a couple of years, Adams name has come up. The folks that sit in on the "secret conversations" are beginning to feel the heat also. Two board members have said they are not on board. Something to that effect. Think Adams made a couple of comments about talking to the guys that made the statements.
Published June 15, 2011, Athens Banner Herald and others.
At a meeting last week, the regents voted to boost Adams' deferred compensation by $50,000 to $200,000 a year, giving him total compensation next year of $660,318, regents spokesman John Millsaps said.
Take a couple of minutes and see how much he will give up and where he expects to gain anticipated lost capital.

More than once it has been said on this board, be careful, winning football games means a lot, empty seats won't help pay the bills.
Adams does not want a Saban type because he cannot control him. He can control Richt. Adams is about power. Winning football teams usually have the right mix of coaches. I think that McGarity knows what UGA football needs, can see where he and Adams could clash.
Think Adams will refuse to accept the raise? Hard to live on a half million these days, eh Adams. . . .

i have a dumb question, which shows my ignorance of football protocol:
does mcgarity have 100% power to hire/fire? does the president of a school have any say?
i didin't know if the president is only over the academic side.
thanks for any input guys.
again, my 1st choice would be chris petersen. but would consider mullen, OR if cmr must stay, a new oc like ralph friedgen ow whipple.
i've heard mahlzans name around. has he ever been a hc before? would just worry that he would be someone who may not be able to make that jump

He's only been a High School HC.
Go get Patterson and his staff....guaranteed success.
At LEAST demote Bozo to QB coach and go get Whipple.

It wouldn't be for money.
His wife's family has more than enough of that.

I'm not sure Patterson would leave the state of Texas.

Good....maybe he will come for less then.

Believe he wants to play with the big boys and have a shot at the NC.
