Understand wlayton. There is no disagreement with me on Patterson being a really good coach. Went back and looked closely at the competition level that he has faced since 2000 and what those teams did on the football field. Then took a look at this years schedule for TCU. TCU should not lose a single game on their schedule, unless Boise State has something for them.
This is where the rubber meets the road for me when I mention Grantham. I have seen his fire, I have heard what the players have to say about him. I have also watched his interviews, he knows well what is going on when the cameras are rolling.
I feel that Richt made a huge mistake with BVG not staying, however BVG knew that his services could be used at a higher level. BVG also took a short look at South Carolina, knew there was more out there. Meanwhile we rocked along with . . . . .
Been around UGA football for a couple of years, this is the first time in many years that I have felt we have the mojo back. Everyone has an opinion and there are reasons for that. Experience is the greatest teacher whether we work the stock market or repair automobiles.
I just happen to be one of those that thinks we would make a huge mistake if the UGA job "should" come open and let Grantham get away.
We will see what Grantham can and will do this year. He coaches one side of the ball. My eyes will be on things like turnovers and takeovers. Beginning to think that Erk's style has returned. Just for the record . . . . Erk should have been the head coach at UGA. We only need to take a look at what he accomplished after being removed in my opinion from UGA.
Patterson has a strong background coaching the defensive side of the ball. He however has not coached against SEC caliber teams since 2000. That is not a slant, those are facts.
When folks around the country talk about SEC football versus any other conference, one thing all will hear, defense. That only changed at UGA when we did not have an Erk or BVG. Say it again, I would hate to see Grantham leave without first giving him more than a year or two in Athens.
