I finally listened to the Tarkenton piece and am left with a few points.

1. I think Tarkenton drinks a bit. I would tip some beers with him.

2. He is correct.

3. Next year will change nothing so we have next year as a throw away and likely the following year with a new coach so basically all of Murrays career will be wasted.

Buc, I still think "school is out" on CTG. He's got to show me something this year as well. I'm certainly not assuming the D is going to be much better. I'll give him 3-4 years though.

CTG does not have 3 to 4 more years. When CMR goes, they all go. He must deliver results next year big time to save his HC and his own CFB career.

DawgnLA, I agree. He doesn't get 3-4 years. regardless, saban won it all in year 3, Meyer won it all in year 2, Miles won it all in, what, year 2-3, Chizik won it all in year 2. Richt shouldn't get a 12th year to prove anything.

It shouldn't take CTG 3-4 years to get a defense in place. get the JUCO NT this year, then the defense will be much better, use that momentum to go out next year and add 2 300 lb DT's and maybe one more JUCO 320 lber, and the defense is then set up after that.

10-2 should be the MINIMUM to expect. Anything below that to me personally is unnaceptable given the schedule: SC at home , UF with a wek off, AUB here after losing their best players, GT here. If we can't go minimum of 3-1 in those games, and throw in 1 loss somewhere just because it's the SEC, then CMR needs to go.

Ok guys, let me re-state my position then. When he was hired, I feel he should have been given 3-4 years to recruit, develope and deliver a good D. He had a lot more to do to that D than just a JUCO player here or there.

I realize if CMR goes, the whole staff will probably go as well.

BulldogShannon....I was speaking about CTG not CMR getting 3-4 years more.

I agree to an extent wlayton. 3-4 years to produce a premier, top level D is my expectation. Two years to produce a good D. Next year I expect to see "good". This past year was something short of mediocre.
