Many, many thanks for the YouTube link! I was fortunate enough to be raised in Atlanta during many of those younger year slides. I distinctly recall venturing downtown to Richs to watch the Christmas Tree lighting, or being drug to a day long adventure at one of their basement sales. In those days 285 was still just a dream, the Fox theater was more mystical when you looked up, \"Whadya Have\" meant a wonderful meal was soon to arrive and fast food was the Dairy Queen!

Remember When was a fitting attribute,..Again, thanks for a venture down memory lane...cept I could have done without the pics of the Joke By Coke!

GO DAWGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NC_Dawg, you and I have definitely walked some of the same trails . . . Rich's and Sears (both West End and Ponce de Leon) were THE shopping centers for back to school. Think that the Rich's Christmas tree lighting was Thanksgiving or the day after. (Mind starts to slip these days). Walked those streets and went to movies at the Fox, Paramount, Loew's Grand and Roxy. Special treat back in the day for my group was the Varsity and their employees.

Another treat was the Krystal Hamburger downtown . . . 8 cents for the burger, 10 cents if you wanted cheese. The old Cracker Ballpark, across the street from Sears Roebuck. Lots of things said about Lester Maddox, one positive thing about LM was him being the driving force to get I-285 started. Must stop, could go on forever.

Back to the topic, sure hope these young players keep their noses clean . . . feel there are some coaches on board that will teach and take them to higher places. Damn, I am proud to say that I grew up in Atlanta and am a DAWG.

Hey Buc, Mine was a different Sears Roebuck the Holiday parade was Macy's. Tree Lighting was Central Park. Burger from the White Tower..upstate NY answer to White Castle. Penny candy from a big ole glass jar. I wasn't a Dawg then but by the grace of God and seven wonderful years in Athens changed all that. Hey did you folks have Western Auto stores? my first baseball glove came from S & H green stamps - Nellie Fox model. Life was good people cared for each other. Good to know others remember also. Spring practice starts again tomorrow. Blessed to be a Bulldog! Go Dawgs....

Yep,...those were the days!!! Still have nightmares of all those lady's, with high buns and pointed glasses digging through piles of clothes on sale tables!!! To this very day, I still refuse to try ANYTHING on in any store!!! But I digress....I met Lester once, during one of our many tours of the Capitol, he rubbed my head and called me a whippersnapper!...

Question is.....Did you milk RoseBud????

No worries bout these young pups, they are just doing what was legal back in the day. Not condoning the behavior, but I'm sure not gonna be casting any stones either!!!!

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
