I love the 3-4. The spread offenses (UF) will have more trouble against us than they normally would As a former player, the only concern is sometimes the 3-4 is relatively weak against the power team's up the middle running. But TG already said he will field a defense that is fluid and will change with the competition.
The great thing about the 3-4 is the fact that at the snap of the ball, it is an optical illusion: it basically is a 5-2 and therefore the QB \"feels\" there will be 5 guys coming. By defintion, whether a 4-3 or a 3-4, usually 4 guys rush. In the 4-3, you know who will be the rushers. In the 3-4, who will be the 4th rusher??? Will it be WOLB, SOLB, or one of the two ILB's???
Confusion!!! Love it.
Warning: by scheme alone, rest assured we will finish in the top 3 in sacks and INT's in the SEC. However, by nature of the main point of the 3-4 (get men to the QB), we WILL give up a big play here and there. Don't get discouraged.
PS: Proud of the Dooley's and their son getting the UT gig. (Hope will kill them though:))
PPS: Only been on the site here a couple days. Love it. I went to a UT site a while back just to get under their skin when they were talking trash about Richt. Got banned within 10 minutes!!!!!!! This site is much better.
