I'm with you. MB -if there IS a problem-is NOT the problem. Unlike the DC for Richt, MB is just a proxy of Richt. Richt could bring in Vince Lomardi to run offense and it will still be the same plays called.
Richt will not fire MB as that is a condemnation of Richt himself.
Richt/MB do frustrate me sometimes, (like calling three straight fade routes from our own 10 yrd line), and like being up 4 on SC two years ago with 4:00 minutes left in the game and we start a drive at our own 15 yrd line and it's three straight passes. Thank God SC fumbled going in to score or we would have lost that one.
If Richt would just consistently be 50-50 run pass I would be happy. However, I disagree with what someone said earlier about running on 1st down 80% of the time. That will not cut it in the SEC. You will be looking at 3rd and 7 all day. What I would do is call more TE passes, and more curls to the RB out of the backfield on 1st down--especially with 8 in the box. If someone like Carlton Thomas gets it in space with 8 men crowding, that 8 man in the box will stop pretty fast.
I think the two biggest problems we have had the past three years or so is:
1. Defensive aggression and fundamentals. ((When crompton comes out and says he knew what we were gonna do defensively-that is a problem. I actually feel that was the moment Richt knew WM would not be back.
2. Special Teams.
