My thoughts on why Kirby stayed at Alabama

my last post was posted b4 I saw your last post Wlayton, I know what your saying I just dont know why he lead us on, He should have just told CMB to tell them he was staying no matter what, and saved us time and looking foolish. I know though he has a family like we all do but really, How can you go wrong with that offer. Even if you fail you could be like ray geoff an open up zaxbys and be ah millionare LOL. look at Ray now cmon LOL!!! anyway good chatn with you, I always enjoy your takes on things!! Hey Baydawg, Welcome, dont get me wrong, my frustration is with KS not anyone here. I just cant believe as you know by now, along with everyone else that this happened like this. WoW what a schock!!
I guess ,I just cant believe anyone who had the privlage to play at UGA then be offered the DC here could do us like this for NS of all people. anyway good night and GO Dawgs!

I do not think Smart is on the radar as much as we think. He is getting next to no credit for the vaunted Saban defense. That is all the talking heads could say during the game the other night.

Saban defense this...............Saban defense that. The only time I heard Smarts name was for the Texas Tech rumor.

That's one of my points. I don't think he meant to lead us on.....just believe he REALLY struggled with the decision. Not to mention he had a NC game to prepare for.

Don't know how much is true but according to Buck Belue the two main reasons Smart backed out of the agreement were:

1. Rodney Garner. There is old friction there and Smart didn't want to work with him.
2. The weight training issue. Seems that our methods are outdated and we are too soft compared to what it is at Alabama. According to Belue, a few strength coaches have mentioned this to Richt and were blown off. Van Halenger is staying. Supposedly, even when Van Halenger was at FSU, NFL scouts always said that great athletes came from FSU, but their strength was a concern.
