My thoughts on why Kirby stayed at Alabama

I think that he REALLY wanted to come back. It was just TOO big of a risk to take for his future. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he really struggled with the decision but the REAL long and short of it is he had everything to lose and nothing to really gain.

His wife played ball for UGA, his BEST friend in Bobo is there and I really mean a very, very close friend and as a past Dawg, his heart is there. I had heard that his ultimate dream job was HC of UGA.

Wlayton, Im confused then, UGA offered him ah kings ransom how can you not make it on what they offered? Even if it didnt work out, he still is sitting pretty and Im sure he could have got another job somewhere else. He could have been the HC after CMR. IMO there is no excuse he already has it good and was just offered a job all of us on this board would love to have, would be a fantasy if you will and he spits in our face and he was a player and alum here to boot I just am having a hard time with this one I wont say any more about it, I do respect your opinon though. This has really been a big disappointment for me, I really thought he was perfect for the job. And didnt expect him to lead UGA on like this at a critical time for us.

I believe that Saban convinced him that his resume would be better staying at bama then to come to uga and rebuild a defense. Coming off a national championship that would not be a hard sell.

I look at it like this OSD....again, just my opinion.

If I'm Kirby......I know that if I stay put I will probably have a HCing job within two years. He's obviously on the radar already. Suppose I leave to \"make a name for myself\" and get out from under Saban's shadow. That could be a really great move OR what if he comes and is a BUST !! He then has to basically start over and work his way back to credibility. The SAFEST thing for Kirby to do is to stay where he is.....he's got his family to think about and his future. Believe me, his goal is to become a HC somewhere. It is a GUARANTEE staying put......he could blow it all by coming home to UGA and failing.

To me, it was simply a decision based on his brains and not his heart.

And you know what, Thats what is part of the problem with our country today, we are to concerned about how we look or whats on our resume, Than where we started, where we came from. Its like who cares about anyone else than ourselves and climbing the ladder the right way. Who cares about your friends, or how you could make a real difference at your alma matter, lets be like NS and petrino and kiffen and do whats best for ourselves and screw the one that brung us when we were coming up.
I hear its very lonely at the top though. KS will never be half the Man CMR is!!!
