Ironically, I believe CWM was the DB's coach under BVG. Maybe he just can't handle the adjustments or defensive play calling. The big picture is just over his head.
You are correct, wlayton, WM was DB coach from '01-'04, and was a DB coach at Eastern and Central Michigan before that, and UCF I believe. He is a good secondary coach, when that is all he has to worry about, like you said. He just isn't good with agressive schemes and play calling, adjustments, etc, etc.
The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

I heard parts of a local radio telecast yesterday about UGA's DC situation. The part of the conversation I caught was that Bob Sanders (ex DC for the Packers) would come to UGA as our DC and they would still keep CWM on staff. I talked to my informed guy to try to confirm this and he said he had heard the same RUMORS but couldn't verify anything yet.
Just thought ya'll might keep your ears to the ground.
Searched around a bit today wlayton, while I did not find anything that one could put their teeth into . . . . Takes me back to the visit in Central Florida that WM made a short time back. Young athlete sitting on the fence and wanting to know if WM would return. Almost like holding the scholarship over UGA's head if WM does not return. (That is speculation on my part and others).
One of the things that most of us like about Coach Richt is that he keeps his word. Lots to be said for that, world would be a better place if . . . . will leave that alone.
So, recruit in question maybe is told that WM is not going anywhere. If a new DC is appoiinted, WM is reinstated as DB coach, then no bonds have been broken when it comes to keeping ones word. Sometimes I think that retirement gives me too much time to analyze.
Know that ugaa won't like this arrangement either, can't say I blame ugaa. Maybe someone like Coach Sanders could bring out the best in WM and turn his career around. Just speculating, as the thread presents itself.

Yeah I remember, I also remember our secondary being the weak link and the camera catching the looks on BVG's face when a DB got lost and gave up a big play when the front had them stopped.
Like I said, hopefully willie will just have to listen and not be an assistant like he was before.

Oh I dont like him staying around but I understand it from a recruit stand point, but if I have a choice between this and nothing then I will take this, hopefully someone in here that is not essentially his equal(which BVG was at the time) will get his act in gear.
Of course if I had my choice I would want a clause in the contract that said he will never, ever be DC again!
