If the O didn't show up that day it was still going to be a dog fight. Just because he struggles as DC doesn't mean he is worthless. The sad part is that should have happened at the minimum of once the past 3 years and most likely twice, if we had a DC who got players ready to play then we wouldnt have crapped the bed against a terrible UT team and would have been in a NC game that year.

Willie is not getting the players ready, at best he needs to be busted down to waterboy, at worst he needs to be banned from ever stepping foot inside clark county.

Reading these posts and reflecting on the past couple of years, especially this one brings me to this . . . .

Coach Johnson coaches at the Naval Academy and what happens to a group of undersized football players as compared to the schools they were playing.

Coach Johnson enters GT as the coach and what happens, and happens quickly.

I understand he had other coaching jobs, just pointing out the two that have shown how much COACHING plays a part in a teams play.

Other side of the coin . . . .
Charlie Weis enters the program at Notre Dame. All the fanfare in the world. Leaving Super Bowl Champions for a very prestigious job.

He went to a school that can and does recruit all over the country. Not limited say to the Southeast. Check out the headlines now for Weis and see how far he has fallen. Rumors are that he receives 18 million if he is released. Truthfully, this is not about the money, just goes to show the idiocy involved sometimes in coaching.

My take is this . . . Good football players are needed. The same applies to coaches. UGA in my opinion made a very smart move when Coach Richt was hustled away from FSU. Coach has had a very good run up until now (record wise) but the wisdom in the coaching selections now becomes a burning issue at UGA, and with many fans and alumni.

Some selections work, others are doomed. Go Dawgs!

The decision should be easy for CMR. He can bring in a \"Co\" deffensive coordinator to save face for his long time friend. Let the new guy run the thing for a few years until the heat blows over, then announce WM as the secondary coach only. Save his job and save face at the same time.

Urban Meyer did a similar thing when he took the UF job. He already had his own coaching staff and DC but he wanted to keep Charlie Strong who was already there with Ron Zook. He made them co-defensive coordinators. Coach Strong was just named the sole DC last year. I think that was CUM's plan all along and the early decision was simply to show loyalty to his coach and also to save face for him.

I would be shocked if WM is fired. CMR can and should find a place for him.

Let's not forget about Bobo in that UT game a couple of years ago. Not only did Willie and the D draw a blank, our O couldn't move the ball against a good defense. I think that if some of these stat people would do a little research on our offense in big games, they would find out that our O does not give the D any support and vice versa. Back to the rumor. A new DC is a great start for CHANGE. We have to start somewhere. I hope there is some truth to the rumor.

Oh I wont, but there is no excuse for a team to put up 28 points on you in the first half alone, ever.

The offense needs to be tweaked but they at least look ready to play on saturday, the defenses look completely lost almost all the time.
