You know guys, truth be known, that kind of stuff has been going on since I played ball. Biting, scratching, grabbing \"privates\", hitting etc etc at the bottom of piles has been happening for ever. Just didn't have youtube to catch it while it was happening.
(oh, I never did it and don't condone it)
Football isn't played in a vacumn. You can cross the line all you want but you know in advance that if you get caught then you will be punished. Everybody knows that. Plus this isn't really a case of kicking/biting/punching on bottom of a pile. This is a case a actively seeking out and pursuing a course of action intended to cause physical harm above and beyond normal bruising.
Think of it this way. If that had been an NFL game and Spikes had been caught on film then what would you expect the league to do?
Why is it okay for Myers and the SEC to do less than the NFL?

He should be suspended for the season!!!!!!!!!!!
For the season? For life. He should also be sued and prosecuted. That wasn't unsportsmanlike, it was a battery.
GATA! Woof!

I have always been proud to be an SEC fan. I am not so proud this year. We have had three games changed by bogus officiating. In each case the favored team gained a victory they probably did not deserve. For the first time ever I find myself wondering if Vegas has gotten to our officials. Now this thing with Spikes and he gets a less than insignificant punishment. Honestly, I don't think the SEC is anywhere close to moral high ground these days. I think we have become something less than honorable. Maybe the NCAA should ban the whole conference for a year. It might do us some good.

Do you not remember when Albert Haynesworth stompted on that guy's head and he had to have stitches around his eye? That was pretty severe! The NFL suspended him for five games which was the harshest penalty handed out at that time. So, I doubt the NFL would have taken a harsher approach to the Spikes incident.
