The shot at the seniors is just stupid... Thats all that can be said about that.

As to the rest of you... Yes the Dawgs D has had a rough year, but Willie's schemes have not gotten us beat. I am tired of people ripping willie martinez apart when they themselves couldnt tell the difference in a cover 4,3,2,or 0. It makes me sick to think that UGA fans have to stoop so low as to want to torch one guy for the out come of our season. Any reasonable georgia fan should know that we lost a huge part of our defense last year in Marcus Howard. He was the life of our defensive line and caused as many QB preasures last year as our entire teams has this year. If you guys would rewatch any of the games this year, the problem is not our scheme. Willie’s schemes have had countless guys in position to make plays. Rashad Jones and Ellerbe missed multiple tackles that lead to huge tech gains. Bryan Evans has been burned in the pass game in weeks before, which is not a flaw in the game plan but a problem with an individuals skill.

There are three huge problems that I can see:
- Lack Of Skill At Defensive Positions- Our huge wound is at DE. We have not had any production from our defensive line because we do not have the speed at the end position to get at the QB. We have lost Howard, who was a huge part of our defensive success. We cant blitz every play. When Willie does call a blitz our corners have gotten beat because aside from Asher Allen we havent had a consistant corner who can cover man to man. We are passing the blame but if we would read between the lines, we are not as good as we thought we were.
- Poor tackling- The fundementals of tackling should have been learned in high school but it is the entire staffs responsibility to make sure these vital skills get developed. There are position coaches that should handle these issues but again tackling should be second nature to 4 and 5 star recruits.
-Discipline- The lack of discipline is for the ENTIRE staff to address and MARK RICHT is the head coach. It is not Willie’s fault, but due to a lack of discipline his defense gave 15 to 30 yards away on numerous drives this year. Richt should handle the problems and they have gotten some what better as the season has progressed. But, Mark is the coach of the Georgia Bulldogs and I think that he knows more about football than any of us do.

It is easy to point fingers at who is to blame for our beloved bulldogs not living up to our preseason expectations, but after completing the regular season it is easy to see that our bulldogs were not the team we all thought they would be. Under performance from our 3rd corner position, a huge lack of talent at the DE position, and injuries all across the field have casued our bulldogs to have a disappointing 9-3 regular season. We need to look at it for what it is, a rough year in which our talent didn’t leave up to the preaseason fantasies that we had in our heads. Many people would like to see willie run out of this town and you guys can tear this post to shreads but I feel like he has done a good job with the players that we have. The way it looks I might be the only person who will stand behind ole willie.

PS: There is not a soul on any of these message boards that could coach at the college level much less a 12 year old kid. So lets cut the crap.

I only agree with you on the DE's....we don't have any. Without writing a book, the rest of the D can be \"coached up\". CWM AND his staff are hired to do just that and have them ready to play, missed tackles etc are ridiculous at this level.CMR designates his staff and CWM is THE DC and has THE sole responsibility of the coaches under him as to how well they are \"coaching them up\" as well.

I said 3 weeks ago that maybe we AREN'T as good as we all thought we were but if you will take a quick look back at the beginning of the season, just about ALL the polls ALSO thought we were the best team in the country, they voted us as #1 if you remember.....not just this fan forum!!!

I have to disagree with you, prozack. All of the faults you listed with the D are the responsibility of the DC. He should make sure they are tackling, covering people, beating blocks to get pressure on the QB, etc. The defense blows and that is the DC's responsibility. And this stuff about most people wouldn't know a cover 2,3,4 or whatever simply doesn't hold water. I may not know how to build a clock, but I can tell time. By the same token, I may not know the name of every defensive coverage, but I can tell when a defense isn't very good.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!
