HELP!!

I suppose it's an \"agree to disagree\" type situation. Personally I think that the Arizona State game exposed as what we are -- a good team, but not a great team. A lot of what made us so good at the end of the year wasn't coming back no matter what -- Sean Bailey as a deep threat, Marcus Howard on defense, Thomas Brown at the tail. Brannan Southerland is a huge part of our offense, and he was gone for half the year and hasn't been the same since he returned. I guess I just think that Georgia's fanbase has turned every game into a no-win situation: if we lose, we should have won, and if we win, the win isn't impressive because the other team wasn't that good anyway! I'm not upset because I'm reading and hearing complaining about our team, I'm upset with the nature of the complaining. No matter what, it's negative. The same people who were saying that we should have gotten more respect for a 14-7 win over an UNRANKED South Carolina team just because that game is historically tight are complaining because we beat Auburn by four; in that rivalry, no matter how good either team is, the average margin of victory is around a half a point. 49 points separate the two teams in total points scored all-time, most of them scored by us in 2006 and 2007. Auburn may have no offense, but they did give LSU a run for their money defensively and will probably do the same to Alabama.

Look, I don't like the defensive calls Willie's been makign for the second half of the season either, and I'm a little upset with Bobo after this week, too. Some of the stuff we called just didn't make any sense. But understand: I'm not upset with the complaints, I'm upset with the nature of the complaints. You all are free to express yourselves however you want, just as I am, but the more you find fault with winning, the more you sound like a fan from Philadelphia. That's all I'm saying.

Anyone else want to talk about the Tech game? If not, we can move on to ladies' basketball or something...

dapolla, normally I don't read too much into some of the posts and threads that appear here, but I did go back and read a thread that sat me back a bit.

I am writing this with 5 minutes left in the Kentucky game. Whether we win or lose, we must fire Willie Martinez after the game or at the end of the season.

This makes the THIRD STRAIGHT GAME in which opponents have scored at least 38 points. Has that ever happened? It's the fourth game this season.

If we lose this game, it will make the fifth game under CWM where we have scored 30 points and still lost. Under Brian Van Gorder, we never lost a game in which we scored at least 18 points. Compare those stats, if you will.

This is sickening. This is NOT the way a Georgia team is supposed to play defense. Period. I'm done forgiving the guy. I don't care if he holds Tech, Auburn and our bowl opponent to a combined total of 10 points. He's FIRED. FIRED. FIRED.

Everyone on this board or most of the regulars from time to time become very frustrated with certain aspects of the UGA football team. Certainly I do, and think maybe we all wear that hat from time to time. Go Dawgs!

Last year I got panned for pointing out the complaining. I've been a little more free this year with my complaints, so I guess I fall into dapolla's group. Still, it's important to keep in mind that complaining of any sort here is simply frustration boiling to the surface. And, as it was pointed out to me last year, it's our right as fans to complain. Hell, I'm happy with 9-2. I'll be happy with 11 wins. Yeah, I'd like to beat everybody by 30, but we never will with CMR. We have to accept that he's just going to let the boys play until victory is in hand, then call off the Dawgs. Personally, I think it's good to let those kids beat the snot out of somebody. Tech would be a good place to start. But we're going to complain every year. We'll always have talent. We'll always have good coaches. As far as what's missing? I think it comes to time. Time to gel and develop a program with the coaches' personalities. I'm willing to give WM another year, but after that, I'm buying a one way ticket to run willie out of townsville.

Hey, I said myself in an earlier post that I was directing what I was saying at all Dawg fans, including myself, who were piling on the complaining. Perhaps the most egregious thing I did personally was to start a thread during the Auburn game entitled \"Holding Down My Gorge,\" about the poor playcalling on both sides of the ball. I almost immediately regretted it, after posting twice within fifteen minutes. No need for that kind of negativity, even from me.

I do think Willie Martinez should be fired. He won't be.

I'm not blameless. But I don't think that what the team has done on the field should negate what could be a record-setting year for the Georgia program. It's not what we expected, no. But it's also not terrible. There's a difference between pointing out what's wrong with one game and stating that an 11-2 season is a raging disappointment and that we're a terrible team that would lose to Ohio State.
