HELP!!

HELP!! was created by Buc
Sometimes I wonder what a good football team would do with a QB who is possibly a first round draft choice. A running back that will probably go in the second round. A freshman receiver that catches almost everything thrown in his direction. Two other receivers that are just a notch below Green. Realizing that the offensive line is young, but \"pretty good, and getting better\". This team that was supposedly going to be one of the better defensive teams in the country and does have a lot of talent. I had high hopes for the Dawgs this year, but have to say this . . . . something is MISSING. Not only on defense, offense as well. DB's have absolutely no idea which direction to run or area to protect. Take a good look Mark, Florida is getting better year by year, same for Alabama. This game was one of if not the worst coached game I have witnessed since the 50's. Go Dawgs!

I hear ya, Buc. The inconsistency in all aspects of the team is mind-boggling. Flashes of brilliance one week, look like the local high school team could beat 'em next week. Alot of people say it's good to be a consistent 10 win team every year, and it is, but like you said, other teams continue to get better while we remain the same--a pretty good team, but not a serious contender. I don't know what we need to get over the hump and move to the next level.

sadlerdawg, glad that you and I are in agreement. I was thinking a little earlier about our previous championship years and it was a lot different back in the day. I am watching Florida and USC right now and it is amazing what Florida is accomplishing just one year after we took them to task in Jax. In my opinion, (my opinion) our defensive backfield is the \"weakest link\" on our football team. It is easy to say no pressure from the front four, but pressure can be brought from lb's and db's. Sorry, I am in line again saying that WM was the DB coach before becoming head defensive coach and I don't see anything from the DB's that excite me, much less the overall defensive effort. We played a team today that cannot pass and looked like a team that had never seen the ball in the air. If we are satisfied with 10 wins a year. . . . .we are on track for the present, but the Vanderbilts, Kentuckys and others are right on our heels. Three yards and a cloud of dust, hell no. . . . .games like this only hurt our program. This team was not prepared to play today. That is COACHING. Go Dawgs!

Agree 100% Buc. Having to go to the last play to beat AU and UK does not instill a great deal of confidence, or \"swagger\", as we've discussed before.

One more point or two. I was the main supporter on this board bringing in the kicker from south Florida. One person that said take caution on this board was wlayton about our freshman kicker. If today we had played against a better offensive team, UGA kicking the ball out of bounds on the kickoff . . . . can you possibly imagine what a team like Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma State would have done with the ball. . . . again I say HELP, what is going on. Is it coaching? Is it talent? How can Saban come in and turn that program around as quickly as he did and Meyer do what he has done at Florida? I watch the recruiting wars closely and it amazes me the number of athletes that leave the State of Georgia and sign out of state. I am truthfully glad that we have someone like Coach Richt or it would be lights out for our program. Just trying to face up to facts as I see them. Go Dawgs!

Agree with your post Buc. Something is definitely missing - not sure how to pinpoint it but it seems to be spirit at the moment. when we went on that great run at the end of last season we were so much more fired up than the opposition...now we look flat. it shows up most on the defensive side with weak tackling, and on offense with blocking (I try and cut our O line some slack as they're all toddlers at the moment, but when I see 3 of them standing while MS gets crushed its hard). Discipline is poor as well-penalties happen but to have what we had today (5 or so personal fouls) is just shocking - that's not aggressiveness or being fired up, it's just silly.

On the bright side - we're 9-2 and we have some incredibly talented players - lets finish up 11-2 and keep KM and MS in town next season pushing for the big goals.

As for kicking - there has to be an ex soccer player on a campus our size that can kick the ball out of the end zone consistently. I'm sure he wouldn't even want a scholarship - just let him go out there and pound the ball into the stands every kickoff and he can then hang out and pick up sorority girls - he'd be thrilled. hold one of those open tryouts.
