HELP!!

Who has Florida beaten that's any good? By your rationale, we're not any good, so Florida hasn't beaten anybody. Neither has Alabama, for that matter.

The SEC is WAY WAY down. That's not even a discussion. I just don't understand why everyone is so bloody upset. Yes, the losses to Bama and UF were embarrassing. No, our defensive scheme doesn't work.

Point of fact, college football is way way down. USC is a fake this year. Ohio State is terrible and they're STILL going to tie Penn State for the Big 10. The entire Pac-10, the entire Big 10, the entire ACC and the entire Big East are bad. The Big 12 north is a joke. 2008 has established the Mountain West as essentially a power conference. They've got exactly as many powers as the SEC does: 3 in Utah, BYU and TCU.

Michigan is going to miss a bowl game. Auburn will, as well, if they lose to Alabama. College football is just all-around bad this year. Lighten up. At least we're not experiencing what Auburn is experiencing. Or Tennessee. Or LSU. Or Arkansas. Or Michigan. Or Nebraska. Or any of the other national powers who are having GOD-AWFUL YEARS. Seriously. To say that we, at 9-2, are having a disappointing season is only accurate if you don't look at the rest of the bloody country. If you can't get excited about beating rivals like Tennessee and Auburn, and the possibility of beating Tech 8 times in a row, then stop watching for the season and wait 'til next year.

This tirade, though it's responding to wlayton's post, isn't directed at him. It's directed at all Dawg fans -- myself included -- who are complaining needlessly. We have two losses, both to SEC divisional champions. The winner of that game, between Alabama and Florida, is going to play for and probably win the national title. With the injuries, the schedule and some poor playcalling, we are NOT what we were expected to be. I hate hearing this whining about how we were preseason number one from the SAME PEOPLE complaining that we WERE #1 to begin with, because preseason rankings don't mean anything.

If it's going to be two straight weeks of what-could-have-been-ing, then I'll see you guys after the Tech game. I'm excited. I'm THRILLED to have a shot at an 11-2 season and a January bowl. I don't expect a national title every year, because I don't root for Alabama, or Notre Dame, or Ohio State, or USC, or insert-unrealistic-expectations-U here. I expect to beat more rivals than we lose to, and to play in January. We should achieve that this year.

As for not having to \"settle\" for anything at UGA, the fact of the matter is that 118 teams in the country \"settle\" for their seasons every year. Only one is national champion. Or two. Or, once, five.

Get over it. It's done. Time for Tech. GO DAWGS!

I don't see any of this as whining, or crying. Some people just have loftier expectations and are more disappointed when they are not met. And then they vent about their disappointments. At the end of the day, this will be considered a successful season, but also a disappointing one, based on expectations. And I'm not talking about the fact we were preseason #1--who cares. I'm talking about how we finished up last year and the players we had coming back. I know we've had injuries, but depth was one of our strong points. I see nothing wrong with believing your team can win the SEC or National championship and discussing your disappointment if they don't. I think telling your fellow fans to shut up and quit whining is a bit much.

Ok, fine.....there are only 4-5 teams that are any good this year, everybody else is down.I'm sorry but I'm not concerned with everybody else. Of the 118 other teams that don't win the NC, probably 100 of them have NO chance of winning a NC so they HAVE to \"settle\"......UGA doesn't.

Just because the whole of college football is \"down\" what does that have to do with UGA? It's like in my business, just because my peers are having a down year does that make it fine that I don't work up to my potential? No....and just ask my wife!!


One last thing, I never reflect back on \"what could have been\", I look at the REALITY of what we aren't.

Nothing greater than riding down the highway in a vintage automobile and know that the ride is going to be a successful trip. You get up one morning and in the garage you notice a SMALL pool of oil beneath the car. This car is a huge part of your life, what do you do . . .

Never ignore the SMALL signals that are sent your way, you repair them. I hope that the problems that some of us think that we have are not ignored, nor do I think that they will be. Personally, I could not stand on the sidelines and direct the Dawgs, but do think that I can sometimes spot some SMALL things that can be corrected. While I might not be able to fix the oil leak, I can point the leak out to the person than can fix the problem.

I certainly hope that this is not construed as whining, I hope it is accepted as a person that cares about taking care of property that has, is and will always be a huge part of this old farts life. I enjoy and respect each and every persons feelings, that is what these boards are designed to be, a place where all speak to the subject at hand. GO DAWGS!

I think we all can say, that something is wrong. You can take this same team with injuries and all give it to Spurrior, Miles, Saban, or Myers and you will get a national title. We have some good coaches, but come on every team has injuries. What was our excuss the first 5 games in o6, in 07. As I said on another post, with CMR and his present staff, we will not have a national title and we may not even win the SEC east again. With the way USC is coming around and with all the players UF has coming back, we just maybe back to the old 7 to 8 wins again. CMR is a nice guy, but he can not motivate our players. You can not come up with some gimick every game to get a team fired up. This team has no fire, no desire to finish the drill as CMR keeps on stating that this team does.

Yes we have won, but the teams we beat, we sould have won and won by 30 points not 4 or 7. As some of you stated, we had the depth to overcome the injuries, but other things are lacking from this team and it is the same thing that was lacking from the first 5 games in 06 and 07.
