Buc, you are right on. It is becoming sad. When does developing quality young men, who obey the law, overtake the urge for instant success. It is just not going to happen again. Unfortunately, those days are gone, and IMO it is the fault of the NCAA. They are the ones who could clean it up.
Make it a NCAA rule that if a player is dismissed from a school due to failed drug test, that athlete no longer qualifies for athletic scholarship compensation at any NCAA program. ANY, D1, D2 whatever classification of football they are looking to play. Last time I checked, smoking pot without a medical prescription is breaking a Federal law. Or if a school has to release a player for DUI's, assualts, whatever the reason may be, it they have broken a Constitutional law that results in the dismissal from that university, make them now pay their way after sitting out a year.
Also, make the punishment at each school the same. 1st time offender - 2 or so many games, 2nd time offender - a full season, 3rd - see ya, and now you are not qualified for any athletic scholarship. Hope your grades were good.
Just a thought. But hey, I guess the NCAA has to worry about who AJ sold his own jersey too. His OWN jersey. Make sure to suspend that kid for 4 games, but the kids at uf, sure they have failed 3 drug test, but that's is none of our business. What a joke the NCAA is.
Very good thoughts and opinions in this thread. One thing is clear, all the Dawgs here are disappointed.
GO DAWGS - especially those who do it right everyday.
