Believe in Star Ratings . . . .

sflanagan21, more than once you have mentioned Jake.

Really enjoy watching him when in public, on the football field speaks for itself. Know I often use the word leadership . . . . in my mind Jake is a "true leader". In the video, his coach said that Jake understands the game, top to bottom. Coach might have said that "several times". :)

Wartdawg, the question you ask is a really good one, IMO. I am really pulling for Jacob, getting his butt kicked big time. Stays healthy, he will make some teams sit up and take notice. Wartdawg, Jacob reminds me an awful lot of AM in "their first years" on the field as starters. ogredawg said it well . . . . basically Jacob is one tough young man.

Watching Jacob and Jake, leads me to believe as has been said on this board, difference in high school competition. Jake has that "little lift" on his passes that allows his receivers and running backs to run under the football. That is huge. Not telling you guys anything.

Now I am really interested in those that are not committed at this point. Two quarterbacks like we have, if I were not in my 70's would love to line up and play with either. Recruiting was not damaged with Jake making it officially official that he intends to wear the Red and Black.

A lot of what is being said on the video below has been discussed here.

We did get some very good players for the 2016 Season.

Believe we are probably two recruiting cycles away from being realistic about our standing in college football, if we are looking to try and compete with programs like Alabama.

Often I am amused when checking out who it is that issues out their highest "star ratings". Won't go too deep into that. Most of us know.

Believe it was Wartdawg that posted his belief in Andrew Thomas as a "possible" starter at left tackle. When I watch the video below, no disagreement from this member. Starter in his freshman year, along with some other changes, might be another plus for us on the recruiting trail.

From 2016 into the future, I seriously hope that we never "again" forget the value of both offensive and defensive fronts. I mention defensive front for this reason . . . . Andrew has the talent to play on both sides of the ball. In the past we often did too much when it came to swapping linemen around. Comes down to solid recruiting, and I believe we are on the right path.

It is often said that regardless of talent levels, it is a must for the offensive linemen to work together. That is what Coach Pittman will accomplish in Athens.

If it was not Wartdawg that said what I posted above, just one of those things . . . . someone on this board did say that.

Appears to me after looking at the 2017/2018 recruits for "all teams", we have a long way to go.

Hope we can find some stability both on the coaching staff and the players on the roster.

Going to take a lot of hard work to reach some of our hopes of improvement.

For the first time in many years I believe that our staff understands the need to "change" some things both internally and externally.

Looking at some of the 3 star players, as graded by those that have never put cleats and pads on, like what I see on the incoming class of 2017, especially along the front lines. Believe much more to come.

Netori Johnson.

Netori does not seem to be satisfied with knocking folks on their backside, wants them to know that he will be facing off for four quarters. That has been missing, and is now recognized by Coach Pittman.

Giving Sam Pittman some thought . . . . he seems to be a laid back sort of coach . . . . not so. He recruits young men like Netori Johnson and Andrew Thomas for several reasons other than weight. They come nasty to Athens, and Coach Pittman will never take that away from them. Players know, Coach Pittman knows.

I had talked about Thomas, Buc..

He's been able to bulk up from around 290 to around 315 without really losing any of jis
athleticism, and could probably handle another 10 if needed. I think he's got the footwork necessary to handle the backside. In the run game he really drives through his blocks usually all the way to the ground... really good at getting to the second level and I think he can develop the strength necessary to wall off an end. He's strong now but we all know he'll have to add even more to handle SEC caliber D linemen.

God Bless and Go Dawgs
