averagedawg, check this article out if you haven't.
Pouty is trying to be "slick" with his summation of what should and should not be.
He missed the entire reasoning of folks that not only questioned the way this young man was "handled", it was pointed out that this "arrest" does not have to be "headlined". AJC has been notorious for this type of "reporting?" longer than Pouty and his friends currently on the staff have been associated with UGA and "political correctness".
Think that Seth Emerson did a good job of "researching" the pros and cons of just where this "situation" is as of now. Pouty could learn from Seth.
I concur with the last two paragraphs of the article . . . . Handcuffs, taking it a bit too far. Also understand what law enforcement is going through this now. This particular case, say again . . . . "Headline", that is not warranted in this case. Just my opinion.
Ken Croy, is a criminal defense lawyer in Marietta who used to be a state court solicitor. He has represented policemen. He called the Briscoe situation a more complicated one, and understands both sides.
“You could be given a ticket for that,” Croy said. “Our criminal justice system gives tremendous discretion to police officers, and that includes the discretion to take them in and fingerprint them for something like this. But they did not have to. They could absolutely have said: Here’s your court date.”
Back in the 1950's police always chose the 'helpful' course when dealing with issues like this.... "Leave your car here since you do not have your license. Here is your ticket and court date." That officer was not taking that road. He was trying to prove something to his boss.
For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.
Steve, have a couple of friends that served both county and state, they shook their heads.
No doubt that there are many out there that are taking advantage of the "system" this day and time.
Can never be too careful, but this . . . . handcuffs, BS.
Pouty needs to move along, has no understanding. Keeping my fingers crossed that Seth recognizes that his future is in front of him, the other one . . . . still sleeping at the wheel, so to speak.
Go Dawgs, proven on G Day that the "majority" support the young men. At some point all of us hope they "grow up". A process than most of us have been through.
Steve some out there that have this "thing" about "power" as you accurately describe.

Lost a good friend & classmate, Anthony "Zippy" Morocco, took his own life after bouts with depression & other brain related issues for sometime. Zippy was a better basketball player than a football player. Very quick & fast on the field as well as on the court. He was an all American in basketball & made all sec in football. A halfback in football & a guard in basketball. He played on all white teams 1949 to 1952. Out of Youngstown, Ohio which was one of Coach Butts favorite recruiting spots. Art DeCarlo & of course the old Fireball Frankie Sinkwich all hailed from Youngtown. Zippy always a DGD.
As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!
Sorry Buc had to throw out my "race card" to level out yours.
