Hope you folks will allow me this . . . .
I am very excited about our football program.
I am also aware of what goes on around us.
College football has changed so much. Say that for this reason . . . . Taking the State of Georgia and Florida to speak about.
The talent levels in both states are incredible. More than incredible. I live in the State of Florida. If you never hear another word out of my mouth, talent in Florida high schools is scary.
Is there any other reason for Michigan and Ohio State to openly recruit in the Southeast? Can they be blamed for that, do not think so. Everyone wants to win. Comes down to talent, and just exactly where the football talent is. Might come down to this, win or . . . . take charge at the "U". Yes, I understand that was a chop block, sometimes there has to be a change in "direction". Mark Richt is in "Disney Land" . . . . make believe, that is his path.
The high school coaches in both Georgia and Florida are not below the college level. Only difference between college and high school is equipment and the number of coaches per team. That is fast changing. It will also increase in less than five years, both monetarily and coaches on site in high schools.
Going to make this thread short. Silence is one thing, but it is real easy to question if we have or have not begun to understand exactly what is going on in the Classic City.
Here I go again . . . . We (you and I) allowed the last head coach to remain in Athens for fifteen years. That is on you and I.
Prior to the fifteen years of Mark Richt we had VD, and a host of coaches that did absolutely nothing. Want to argue that point, willing.
Time has come to hold more than coaches feet to the fire . . . . might want to look and discuss what “moving forward” actually means.
Folks, never forget this . . . . “They” care only about “butts in the seats” and the “bottom line”. McGarity has a hold on both of the above mentioned points. That is his job. Since 2010 McGarity is no better than Mark Richt. I continue to say this . . . . “keep our eyes on the Athletic Director”. He was second to Jeremy Foley for one reason . . . . no one other than his Alma Mater wanted him. Greg McGarity had over 10 years to be recruited by any university. Not one.
I would bet this . . . . Greg McGarity has all of his marbles in one basket, believe that to be Smart and Company.
If "I" was the Athletic Director, would place my marbles in the same basket.
More changes to come? I would also bet that will happen.
Allow me this again . . . . Regardless of the "athlete" not a reason to make an excuse for another university to win the National Championship because of our . . . . shortcomings. That is meant to be a "talent evaluation" statement.
Close with this . . . . Wartdawg reminds us of the truth. Are we interested in winning the East or buckling up and get ready to put mortar between the blocks.
The largest change that I believe you and I will see is . . . . "Leadership". Yes, I know that yd1 and I have used that term often . . . . yd1 spent a lot of time in a leadership position. He understands the meaning of the "word". UGA has not had that for far too long.
OMT. One More Time. Mark Richt was not a leader. Neither was/is Greg McGarity and Mahogany Row.
Want to win SEC Football, those in the way might want to get out of the way . . . . just a suggestion.
