Scooby,

And I ask you why should we not be going "gaga" over the new coaches? Kirby was the best hire in the nation, without question. I know you said he was an excellent hire, but it's not just his hire that was impressive. That was just the beginning. In looking at what he has accomplished with this football program in a little over 3 months on the job -- 2 months of that full time -- we are seeing exactly why he was the best hire in the nation.

Look, whether Kirby ultimately fails or succeeds, all of us around here are ecstatic about the fact that we finally, finally.......finally!...have a leadership that "gets it." From day one on the job, Kirby peered into this program and said: "we're gonna fix this, and this, and this, and this...now! Not in two seasons, right now."

And dawg nation breathed a sigh of relief.

Kirby called us out day one...

This team doesn't have the depth to play in the SEC....

That was a hell of a bold statement. That was a shot across the bow of the entire program. He and his staff are sending a clear message to the suits in the BM:

You want to win championships? Fine. Well, it's time to grow up. The product you have been putting on the field and the talent you have pissed away is pathetic and unacceptable - and it ends now. Everything prior to my hire is done. You want championships? I'll get you your championships, but first you have to understand that the football team you've given to me ain't gonna get it done. In fact, your team doesn't have the depth to play football in our conference. Hi, I'm Kirby, and I'm your new head football coach....

Everything that CKS and his staff are publicly saying with regard to the fundamental problems with this team are all the things that we all have been saying for years.

And they're addressing these problems in such a bold way that it's almost like Kirby is sending another message - a message to that large segment of the dawg nation whose enthusiasm has been on life support for years:

I hear you. I understand. Ya'll relax. I've got it, alright?"

That's why we're bubbling over with excitement. This isn't about a cult of personality of Pittman, Tucker, Chaney or Kirby. This is about being excited about what we see them doing. This is about enjoying the moment when football finally came back to Athens.

I read an article that said that the "class of recruits" that had decommitted from the U would be rated the same as the class that signed. Now granted, some of those de-commits came after Golden was fired, (though most were after richt was hired), but still, maybe richt isn't the master recruiter he was made out to be by the bleeding hearts.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Southern dawg, what do the suits in bm need to do differently? All I can think of is build that dang ipf. Everything else seems to be there. Nice digs for the players. Paying coaches plenty of dough. Letting in players with so so academic ability and tutoring them. Etc...Not sure what else the non football guys can do.

It's not all that complicated. To move to the next level uga needs to recruit better, have more discipline, and a little better game management. I have said Kirby was a good hire, but only time will tell.

Stakes are high in college football. Probably to high.

SouthernDawg, one of the best reads ever. To the point, not ugly, just realistic football talk.

Many tired of the way our program was being mishandled.

As far as speaking up, damn sure appears to me that lesson was learned well while in Tuscaloosa.

Kirby and Company will not make the tackles, but they sure as hell will make sure there will not be second misses. I call that coaching.

Shoulder tackles that were taught by Willie Martinez and others, not my brand of football.

sadlerdawg, I keep a close eye on the "U". Glad to see you are doing that also. Does not surprise me, you were one of the first,if not the first to suggest removing MR. That list grew with time, and that includes me. Tried to believe, lost cause. The "U" laid out four million dollars a year for a coach that is another in a growing list in Miami that still do not understand.

Scooby, probably should have said 'shoulder bumps'. What Pete is talking about is totally different. Guess I need to watch my wording carefully. :)
