Looking through the tweets KS put out to the 6 early enrollees. Noticed something that he is doing that may be his way of starting a trend to create pride in staying in state.

For those kids who are from Georgia, he ended each tweet to the players with #homeGROWN.

To each commit from out of state, he ended the tweet with #commit to the G"

I like the "homeGROWN" schtick. It lets the rest of the nation know we are sticking together and staying home.

Finished the Saban book on his "process". He is better than tghe Bear was for several reasons but since this post is not bout that I will not go into that. I will say to all the above posts who says KS will move McGarity to the side:

He DAMN sure will!!! He learned under NS and NS didn't put up with anything other than COMPLETE faith in HIS leadership. As a matter of fact, 1-2 times when he felt the SUITS didn't appreciate him, that is when he put it out there about another job.

Know this from the documented evidence in the book about NS: He HAD the Texas job and wanted the job but the main power guy at UT wanted Brown to resign and Brown refused to. Ony after NS signed his new deal, the very next day Brown resigned!

Here is what I take from that: UGA may be home to KS but if KS is not allowed to have everything he wants and he feels he is set up to fail, he will take a job like Bama/Texas/FSU/LSU if it ever opened up. He would want to stay at UGA of course, but if KS looks up in 4 years and finds that UGA is #1 in SEC revenue, but #12 in spending, that dawg won't hunt for KS.

Maybe GM will give 100% in to KS and if he does from here on, I will support GM staying as long as he wants to. IF GM is cheap, I'll be up his butt with letters (been several emailed to him from me).

BulldogShannon, really good read.

Good point on the previous head coach flying commercial on his visit to Washingon State. Takes me back to McGarity saying his mind was made up on the ride back from the Tech game. Foot in mouth.

Kirby Smart could have had "anything" he wanted in South Carolina. Anyone believing Kirby Smart took the UGA job just to return "home", oh well, give that some thought.

Going to be paid less than the former head coach, that is in step with the way McGarity "handles things". Fire a 4 million dollar head coach and hire a "newbie" for less.

In my life I have witnessed many "power hungry folks" slip up one time too many and were shown the exit.

Hiring Kirby Smart did not originate with Greg McGarity. Fact.

Thanks again for the good read Shannon.

Mentioned on this board a time or two that Mike Ekeler was one of my favorite hires at Georgia. I was aware of Ekeler's coaching abilities prior to moving to Athens.

Pulled a portion of the interview with Mike Ekeler from the AJC.

Cannot start to count the times on Dawgs.com that "star" rankings were mentioned. Don't come from those that "coach football". Press material more times than not. Creates clicks.

Mike Ekeler is a football coach. Thank you Mike Ekeler.

“People talk about hiring great recruiters; I think that’s an absolute joke. If you’re labeled that, 99 percent of the time that means you can’t coach a lick. That’s a fact. There are very few exceptions. Ed Orgeron is a fantastic recruiter and he’s probably the best defensive line coach of them all. The guy is big-time. It’s great to recruit 5-stars, but then they come in and play like 2-stars. It’s too bad that’s how this profession is, but that’s part of the deal now.

“It’s not about recruiting, it’s about evaluating. That’s one of the things I learned from Ed Orgeron. It doesn’t matter if he’s a 2-star or a 5-star, it’s how you evaluate it and what you think you can do with him. That’s what I learned from him. Again, you recruit them. But there’s only about five players in the country that are totally different than everybody else. Everybody else can fall into a similar category. At that point it’s about developing and teaching. It’s about evaluating and developing your talent. And that’s a fact.”

EDIT: yankeedawg1, Kirby Smart understands "detail". There will be an end to the pp on the decks. Bet that.

What we're seeing now is not a simple tuneup.
But a complete overhaul, Holley carbs, Edelbrock heads, complements of Honest Charleys.
Go Dawgs!!!!!
