Finally the Richt regime is over.
The program is on the way up.
McGarity get the hell out of the way.
averagedawg, A+ on everything said above.
There is little doubt now that there were a lot of things going on in Athens that should have been corrected much sooner than they were.
Bothers me a bit when I see good coaches brought in to "save" the status quo and in a short time, looking for employment. Not all of the coaches but I suspicion some that did not realize what was being kept behind closed doors.
Leaves little doubt that some of those that were not real pleased with the past few years spoke up, threatened to withhold financial support, then the message was heard. Loud and clear.
There is little doubt that the past head coach was asking for at least one more year. From what I hear and also said on this board, McGarity gave a flat answer of no. After 15 years of what some considered solid coaching, there were many this time around that did not subscribe to the "solid 15 years".
Many of us believe and know that McGarity keeps a close eye on the vault. Much more to keeping the vault "green" than renewing contracts and handing out raises.
Anyone that thinks Greg McGarity was not given an ultimatum does not have their eyes and ears open. Richt won the first real war between himself and McGarity. Richt did not win the war with those that had played, donated large sums and called for a "bench clearing".
What happens now will be in plain view. McGarity knows that he almost screwed up again when it was clear that Kirby Smart had one foot in the door in Columbia, South Carolina. McGarity said that he made up his mind on the return trip from the GT game. Garbage. McGarity saying that he had a firm searching for the next head coach, garbage. He was told from what I understand that Kirby Smart had best end up in Athens. We will continue to see the athletic director trying to get out front with the money maker, football. Called job security. Soon the Public Relations Group will flood the airways and internet with the IPF. They will also have Greg McGarity as the lead in releasing the information. Thanks again for the truth Jeremy Pruitt.
