Wartdawg you are just a "puppy" . . . . a damn good "puppy" for sure. Still the thought of your Dad crosses my mind on occasion. Still would not have arm wrestled with him and I have never been a 95 pound weakling.
There is hope for some of us older folks. Many on this board and others have waited a long time for Georgia Football to be taken seriously.
Bothered me when the previous head coach was sitting in his press conferences smiling like a Cheshire Cat when asked a question . . . . was able to smile because he did not get serious questions. Some of these beat writers are big, bold and bad when they are in home office typing. In Butts-Mehre, they were there by invitation and they understood consequences.
Kirby Smart will change the face of Georgia Football. Do I think it will take a long time. Nope. Kirby Smart was not hired to be anything other than a stand up guy. I feel sure that those above Kirby understand he comes from the Nick Saban tree and we also understand that "tree" carries many of Saban's habits at press time.
Could not be happier at this point sadlerdawg.

The whole program was too comfortable. I'm sure he thought that when push came to shove, UGA would never be the decider on when he left.
I usually wasn't able to listen to his pressers, but was in the car for the one before the GT game. He spent the first 10 minutes reading the stat sheet. Uhhhmmmm, coach, everyone who is paying attention knows Georgia Tech's stats and the ones that don't are just a google click away. How about some substance? It was like a filibuster and as much fun as watching the 4 corner offense in College basketball.
I turned it off.
I'm sure that CBS thought he had a good 3 years minimum before he was held accountable. Oops.

We saw at UF this year how quickly a team can assume the personality of its coach. Same thing there when UM replaced Zook.
A man of strong character and determination can make that change at UGA just as quickly. I expect to see manifestations of that even before Spring Practice.
I think we are all excited to see these much-needed changes, just as almost all of us are relieved that Mushchamp will be in Columbia. As I said earlier, that is a twofer for UGA - we dodge the bullet of having him in Athens and his big mouth will keep the rivalry strong.
I hope MO is getting a MAN in Barry Odum. I was very disappointed in Pinkel caving to the campus fascists. Good riddance.

I may have read into it wrong but I am a little irritated with Bielema here. In my opinion he never should have let people know that KS called. Would have been more tactful to say "No comment".
Seems like it made KS look like he was being turned down and not prepared up front for Enos's situation. I know, being a little sensitive this morning but the way the whole quote read made it appear to me Bielema let the world know he told KS to shove it.
Would have loved the Enos hire though.

BulldogShannon, don't think you misinterpreted what the message from Bielema was about. He had a run in with urban meyer when the new Ohio State coach arrived. Bielema did not like the fact that meyer was calling on players he had offered. Carrying the same message in Arkansas.
I think Bielema is much like Saban. Understands the need for big linemen, both sides. Little doubt that he teaches basic smash mouth football.
dawgs_fans_dad, you make a good point about the "pressers". Previous head coach liked to spend at least half of the presser with stats. As you pointed out in your post "filibuster". Spot on. previous head coach fell asleep soon after his second or third year in Athens.
Kirby Smart speaks well, will not dodge tough questions, and there will probably be a few now that we have competence in Butts-Mehre.

Well, at least we know where Smart's head is at.
Beating the bushes.
Already working his butt off.
No time for celebration or congratulations.
