To me a college football team is always a work in progress. It's just some other teams seem to be further along. Always a problem.
No kool aid.. We have a lot of new and old changes at several levels. I see them as very positive. I hope it is not more of the same in just a different package. A lot of focus on the new guys on staff.
So I have a wait and see approach. Yes, it is getting old. Time for change and that is what we got this year. HC will be around. Recruiting only is what a lot of folks seem to hope for him.
I see the team as a bunch of junk yard dawgs running in a pack. They could be scrappy enough to do it. We will know in a couple of weeks. No excuses.
Let the big Dawg eat!

swampdawg, spoken as well as I have seen in many posts, both here and elsewhere.
Actually when I read what is going on with our football team, I look closely at what the players and the "newer coaches" have to say.
When I read the work "recruiting" takes me instantly to coaches like McClendon, Brown, Sale and the entire defensive staff.
I do know this for a fact . . . . Schottenheimer has been heavily involved in recruiting out in the field, not sitting at his desk waiting for the recruits to come to him. Big difference. If Schottenheimer continues to run with McClendon, as he has done often, we will see positive results.
Regardless of the talent that is in Athens today, it does not stop there. That was the program before this new group of coaches, both offensive and defensive said "whoa", there is a better way. Sometimes "change" is better suited when it comes from the bottom. Top is not leaving, got that out of my mind, or pushed it to the back of my mind, wanting to see what the new hires come up with.
One thing that I have not seen mentioned, from extensive reading, Richt did not call the plays against ULM, Schottenheimer called 100% of the plays. Same will be the case in Nashville. Schottenheimer was hired to run the offense, Pruitt to run the defense. At this point, don't have an issue with either.

Went back looking around, came up with this.
Mark Richt has once again gone back to the Nick Saban coaching tree to bring McNeese State co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Rob Sale to Athens to replace Will Friend.
Sale played for Saban at LSU, serving as a three year starter on the offensive line for the Bayou Bengals.
He only began his coaching career in 2006, coaching one season in the high school ranks before reuniting with Saban at Alabama, where he served in various support capacities from 2007 to 2011. In 2012 he went home to Louisiana to serve as offensive line coach at McNeese State, added the co-offensive coordinator position for 2013, and now finds himself in an infield position coaching gig in the SEC. That's a solid career trajectory for a 35 year old coach.
Think that Jeremy Pruitt had a hand in this? Probably Will Friend also.

Yankeedawg1, I take "some comfort" in knowing that Rob Sale served time under Nick Saban, player and assistant.
Also like players saying that Sale pays attention to "details".
These young men get plenty of S&C under Mike Hocke. Looks like a good combination of services to me.
Program is at a point that I have not seen . . . . maybe ever.
Cannot recall talented players the likes of those that are coming on board and those that are taking a "hard look" in the numbers we see now.
Appears that we have some offensive line talent signed up and ready to go. Really hope that never gets away again.
Fran Tarkenton just made a huge contribution to UGA, also said that he thinks this is the best group of coaches he has seen in Athens.
Have seen some good coaches over the years, but not the numbers recently hired.
Looking forward to Ekeler and his defensive coaching of the Special Team. Will watch that closely in the game with Vanderbilt. Will also be interesting to see if our punter kicks off again.

Can't let this side. Barber was a mess last year. Had injuries and lacked effort
