Let me see if I have my facts straight . . . .

Todd Gurley and Ramik Wilson seem to be unanimous choices as All Americans.

Top rated kicker in the SEC, Marshall Morgan. Among the highest rated in college football.

Fifth Year quarterback that knows the playbook inside and out. Still holds some records for quarterback play in high school.

Defense despite losing some malcontents, return a much better than average group.

Defensive Coordinator with credentials that make many in the college football world think he is one of the fastest rising young coaches in the business. It is a business. Check the dollar amounts.

Different approach to Special Teams, (all of them) this season. Finally.

Appearance of depth at running back, quarterback (some believe) wide receivers, tight end possibilities.

Looking at “coach speak” going to run the football, a lot. Offensive line has to be all in on that statement.

So, just how many teams on our 2014 Schedule can compare with the above? Looking over the “talent” again in Athens, makes me wonder if at this point in time “things” will change in Athens. Been around for a while, have watched similar teams with “talent” come up far short, shorter than maybe I would have suspected.

Coach speak don't mean a thing. Don't see us running the ball any more than we did last year. CMR/CMB connection is a pass first offense. TG and the rest will get thier carries but there is just not enough carries to go around with the talent we have at RB. Someone in that multi talented RB group is just not going to get used like they should and will not be happy which will breed some discontent.

Pruitt has yet to prove that he can win with his own players, but then again he is a WINNER which is a big improvement from the last 3 or 4 years.

Has to be proved on the field and not by "coach speak".

Haven't been around that long, but at least 3 times during this regime it seemed like a legit national contender came up short. Sometimes way short, sometimes "5 yards" short, but still short. A number of other seasons they underachieved. Experience on "D" and the "O-line" big question marks, but there is talent and the prospect of it being "coached up".

Let's hope so....

One thing that I feel "supports" some of the hype on Pruitt is the number of freshmen that he played last season for the National Championship team.

Might be luck, but one thing I do know. FSU has lots of talent on both sides of the ball and that is continuing with recruiting this season.

We needed coaches like the newly hired defensive bunch to come in and make some "serious noise". Don't see Pruitt/Rocker "coddling" anyone that plays defense.

Has been said before, the difference between a no-star and a five-star rests with those that "know so much" about college football talent.

Young men leave high school close to full development, others enter college and their development surpasses the BMOC types. Both mentally and physically. Witnessed that many times.

Real test will come on the offensive side of the ball without AM. No one supported AM more than I did, he deserved everything positive thrown in his direction.

Hutson Mason's turn. More than likely he will run the "same playbook".

Comes down to "want to" and that applies to both players and coaches.

yd1, going down and visit with Greg this morning. Always enjoyable sitting with a "South Georgia Stud" . . . . :)

Edit: Just read your post dawgs_fans-dad after my last post. Said many times and I could not agree more . . . . we have been a yo-yo team way too often. Coming from a different time than many that I read elsewhere, the "call to order" has been voiced by Pruitt.

CJP so far has not released a depth chart. Wants all players to know that thier starting job is not a given it is earned. Very good motivator and I don't think we will see any "WTF" type plays out of our cover guys this year. Bone headed things are hopefully a thing of the past with this D.

Talent is there for the coaching on both sides of the ball, never been said that it has not. Question is the coaching there? That question will be answered the 2nd game of the season when we visit the old ball sack and the chickens

Mentioned Ramik Wilson above. Those that have been here for a while remember some of us in Florida saying that Ramik Wilson's name would be known before he left Athens.

Here is another young man that plays the same way. The way that Pruitt likes his linebackers to play. Speed, sideline to sideline. Pruitt wanted and got Juwan Taylor to commit. Now offers are coming from everywhere. Juwan's name will be readily identified before he leaves Athens, just like Ramik's name is known now. Book it.

Pruitt expects his linebackers as well as his defensive backs to catch the ball. Juwan does.
