Looking for Change . . . . was created by Buc
Understand that I am more vocal than anyone else on this board. Have come to realize that while I chatter more, many do the same thing without a lot of chatter.
Thinking about it a lot recently. All I really want whether or not it is showing itself in my posts, comes down to this . . . . Really tired of looking at successful programs that somehow seem to come out ahead, whether or not it is above board or not. You and I don’t decide that, supposed to come under the umbrella of the NCAA. SEC won seven straight National Championships, have yet to see the title taken away from any of the winning programs. Do not see our program listed in the seven winners.
OK, this is why I started this thread. Is there any reason to believe that the University of Georgia will win a National Championship in the near future? If you think so, would be interesting to see why you think so.
Have you folks looked at the recruiting that has transpired as we talk? I continue to see the same name universities with the higher recruiting numbers than we have. I like many of the named players that say they are going to enter school in Athens, but I also look at the names of those that are going elsewhere in the SEC. Not going to bring up universities outside our conference.
Somehow when I look around and try to find an answer for myself, I come back to the same place that I started. We are what we are. I read blogs that say every year in the Spring . . . . Here comes the talk from the folks that wear the Red and Black, talking about a National Championship. Easy enough to change the numbers in the year for example . . . . Start at 1980 and move forward. Is that statement close to the truth?
We have changed head coaches, athletic directors, university presidents and heaven only knows how many assistant coaches.
So, we move back to the 1940’s and move forward to the 1980’s and where we are now. What is it going to take to get on the same level that other universities are or have been?
This is the “stuff” that an old fart like myself thinks about. While the old fart posts a lot about different things concerning our football team, don’t really see a lot of different “chatter” coming from what I have seen in the past.
Do not mean this to be something ugly, just expressing what I have seen and feel over many years.
It is going to be a lot tougher for us and those of us that want a National Championship since the new “set up” allows four teams to play for the Crystal.
If we want to be there, we have to do “several” things better than we have since the 1940’s. VD had Walker in the 1980’s, if not, we would not be talking about the 1980’s, we would have to hang our hats on the 1940’s.
Something has to change, and maybe it will be a simple change. However, it does not work that way for you and I. All we have to do is look at the times listed above.
I go into 2014, and I mean this sincerely. Looking for change.
The word "change" rests with you folks, "change" can mean a lot of things.

Buc. Change as you say can mean many things. Big,or small changes comes in many forms
IMHO. All the teams in the SEC face wholesale changes this season, players, coaches and
Schedules all factor into changes. We are not alone
Can/will. CNS and the Tide must prove themselves with Lame as OC how will he and Kirby mesh?
Was Auburn a fluke? Won't sneek up on anyone this year
A & M. Without Johnny Football? CLM host of new players
On and on as I said. Everyone has questions including us
We have a dog in the hunt as I said before in sports crazy things happen as proven last season
Can we win the NC this year hell yes will we thats the 64K question
We need to play one game at a time as it was a season within a season
Stay healthy and let TG. Be HW. V.2. Go Dawgs

Marc Weiszer again lays it out, makes much sense to me. Looking for change, some things have to change. We continue to change position coaches and coordinators over the years, as do many programs.
What gets under my skin a bit is the names that played high school football in Georgia and did not seem to understand the phrase . . . . Build a fence around the State of Georgia borders.
Looks as if there are some "getting down to issues" on the defensive side of the ball. Players leaving at this point don't really upset me that much.
Hoping that the defense can have a good recruiting year, need many players to avoid what Marc has to say in his article below.
Many of us are past "excuses" and here is hoping that all of the coaches can put an end to that kind of talk.

Picked the following paragraph from The Lady Sportwriters site. Totally agree with needing to change.
Yeah, 2014 is looking more and more like a rebuilding year for the defense but, when you think about it, perhaps it was never built right in the first place and, based on what we’re seeing now, maybe what we’re seeing now is something that was long overdue.
After coming to Athens and watching a lot of film, might be that Jeremy Pruitt realized he needed a three year contract.

Looking around, found the following photograph VERY INTERESTING. Check the direction of the eyes under the UGA helmets, not looking in Pruitt's direction.

Buc we have had talent on the D side of the ball for several seasons what has come to light
We have been lacking and behind on was technique teaching
It has been firmly established that CJP is not going to take any BS, yup his way or
The highway. I am sure he has noticed who is making eye contact and who is not
The number of those who are not is shrinking. No question we will be better on defense
Just having players on the field who want and willing to play football
Erk and Munson both nodding in agreement to what is taking. Place
Go Dawgs
