Serious group of running backs for 2014 DWS.
Hoping to see the coaches get real serious about the offensive line. Don't want to see Gurley making holes for himself. Not being ugly, he is that type of player. If Gurley gets that initial hole, many on the defense don't want to tackle him.
Some won't agree with this but . . . . Walker did not run against the same defenses that Gurley is faced with. Not unlike comparing 1950's/60's football to the time that Herschel played. Same can be said if comparing 1980's to 2013/14. Not the same, not even close. Herschel was the beginning to the way running backs like himself and Gurley play the game.
That is one reason that I don't compare athletes. Running backs with great offensive lines don't have to be great running backs, and still get 1,000 yards. These days, 1,000 yards seems to be a small number, can remember when every running back was graded on that stat.
When this group or the group of coaches that replace the existing group understand what an offensive line means to college or professional football, you can figure to play in the final "4" at this point.
Question for those that post. . . .
Can you name how many offensive linemen versus defensive linemen that have made it to the professional ranks in the past 11 or 12 years? Not that the question needs to be answered, but . . . . tells us a lot about the direction this group of coaches have taken.
