Next week I am pretty confident that we will be able to hold Vandy to under 38 points. I know I am going out on a limb of positivity, but I'm trying to keep the faith I've been told to keep for so very, very long.

Needed that, feel so much better.

Feel that I need to say this.

Grantham played on the offensive line in college. Can't speak to how good he was. Moved on and studied under some successful coaches.

Went to the Cleveland Browns and was defensive coordinator. Not too successful, but few were at that point in Cleveland, they are still trying to dig themselves out of a hole.

Coached the defensive line in Dallas. If Grantham had been all that, Jerry would still be signing his paycheck.

Interviewed for the Saints defensive coordinator's job. All I will say about that is this, coaches in the professional ranks take care of their own. One time Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator is now the leader in New Orleans. That was assured prior to the "theatrics" between the two men supposedly vying for the job.

So, Grantham got a "little" pay raise after that "act four". Now the curtain is coming down. Grantham fails in Athens, pretty much ends any hopes of "greater wishes".

Lots of eyes are going to be on Mark Richt and a name that has not been mentioned thus far, McGarity. Who is walking the tight rope at this point? McGarity or Richt. Cannot see McGarity putting up with too much of this problem that seems to exist in the "money making machine".

We have seen how far the followers of UGA football are willing to go. Simple little things like "Blackouts" and wear "Red".

Time has come to ask what are we to expect, other than excuses like . . . . "we played well in the third quarter, thought we had them".

THINK AGAIN.

Gonna keep it short and to the point! I said 3 years ago that it was time for a change at UGA and I have also said on here that you are only as good as your leader. I have tons of respect for CMR as a MAN, and yes he is a good coach BUT he will NOT ever bring us what we are all wanting and what these STUDS that he recruits deserves. Two coaches that I would LOVE to see come in and take over our program, Charlie Strong or Kirby Smart...

PS-My thoughts on the game our simple, ya ain't gonna beat many SEC teams if you can't cover or tackle and if you turnover the ball 4 times. Our boys deserve better, CTG should be ashamed and man enough to step down...

Asking a question in a thread that LimeyDawg started this thread with.

First things first, don't be mislead by LimeyDawg. If you have been around this board long enough, he understands. Calls it with the best. Silent type. Understands American Football.

Did not get a lot of response for post #20.

My question is this, and if you read and post would like to see where you are by name with our defense.

I believe that Grantham has had a free hand at running the defensive side of the ball. Mark Richt has said that, without saying that. Hope that is understandable.

I have been the outspoken one saying that I like keeping a staff together. Have always like stability. Still do, always will. My bad in this case. One thing for sure, stability may have been carried "too far". Hope that also makes sense.

Have to come off of my stance with Todd Grantham. He is not a leader, he is a "position" coach. Which "position", can't answer that.

Mark Richt will try to smooth things over in Athens, that is his MO. If there is not drastic change in Athens, we will go over the same "stuff" we went through a couple of years ago.

Whether or not you are a AM fan, does anyone at this point think that he won't be missed next season? It is no longer about talent, it is about coaching the talent.

Grantham, you are not a "whiz" you are a position coach, me thinks. One loss did not bring this on, you have been "suspect" for some time. Simple fact, voices get louder, and they are heard in higher places. If not, empty seats suddenly appear, that does not pay expenses.

Realize in the coming days we will hear about how we are going back to the drawing board, players are playing hard, coaches . . . . ? One thing that I have noticed and don't like, we don't hear much from our defensive coaches, those that carry out TG's instructions. Am I seeing fear from those that work for the defensive leader or what?

yd1 and myself have asked more than once about Lakatos. Seldom do we hear anything from Olivadotti. Have always liked "Sunshine" in the room.

Will this be just another time that "coaching" takes a precedence over talent?

What say you, say you when it comes down to brass tacks.

There were some things I loved about TG, but I feel like the vocalness and the attitude were a mummers farce. A lot of bluster and wind that really didn't have much substance behind it.

I tried... I kept the faith in TG. I looked at last years defense and tried to find explanations for what we saw when we had 7 NFL draft picks on that side of the ball. I saw poor tackling, taking poor angles, not maintaining containment.

I thought it was because we had superstars playing me ball instead of we ball.. trying to find that excuse that allowed me to keep the faith in
TG.

Guess what though....

Same thing was there the season before that, but back then the excuse was that our boys were still learning TG's system. Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes... and it's all because of the learning curve.

Then came last year.... same thing , new excuse.. because the first one was a dog that wouldn't hunt any longer. In fact, it seemed the year before the D was stronger despite that years squad having matured in TG's scheme. Remember the promise that defense was supposed to deliver?

Then we came to this year, and here it was again... same thing, but time for anoher excuse... young pups. Young pups who were now TG's boys..

If young pups was the excuse at the beginning of the year, then seeing progress was the only defense..

I have seen none. In fact, in retrospect it seems the longer we go into the TG tenure the worse it
becomes.

I'm done with the excuses. At some point you can only hear so many of them when you're talking about the same exact problem you were 2 years ago.

I made a long post the other night talking about why I felt justified blaming our coaches on the D side. I'll stand by it.

So hey... TG... why don't you pick a fight with the coach of Vanderbilt again after his lower 2nd tier
offense takes you to the brink...

Maybe once again it will distract the faithful from the truth.

God Bless and Go Dawgs
