Don't really know if there is a good formula for AM. Never know if you don't try different things.
Again, glad to see him surrounded with "some stability". Been a long time coming, me thinks. He will not change, he will try and fit the football into tight areas. Fear of not accomplishing is not in AM's gray matter. Yes he will take off "scrambling" for yardage if need be this season. Hope he has learned to get down.
Tarkenton was one of the originators of scrambling, built his reputation on scrambling. Sure as heck did not have the arm that AM has.
Here again I hope that those that do and don't care for AM as a quarterback realize how much he has given of "himself" to our program. Sometimes takes a while for talents to be recognized. Sometimes, could be years.
Guarantee all that the players know that AM is the leader, they will go to the wall for him. That alone could be the reason that there is such an "up beat" feeling with the "football players" this season. Any corporation or larger group, regardless of the task at hand, must have a leader. We have that, and there is a large group of football players that dress out on Saturdays that know they have that person . . . . both offensively and defensively, AM effects both sides of the ball.
Some folks know they have to work harder than the "natural talents". Not every quarterback is going to be a John Elway or Payton Manning down the road. AM comes closer to Payton Manning than any quarterback I have watched on the college level, when discussing "preparation". Both know that preparation is the way to win games. No AM does not have Payton's height, neither does Drew Brees, both have the same number of Super Bowl Rings. Reason . . . . preparation has a lot to do with winning.
Preparation applies to coaches as well as players. Georgia has had a "spotty record" with their coaches for a long period of time. Just dial in after the National Championship and look at some of the hires, even up to a few short years back.
The "Bear" had the formula many years past, now Saban (or Satan) as some like to tag him has the formula today.
Say it again. Nick Saban understands the need not only for preparation, he knows how to win the "talent game". Fact. Why has Saban progressed so far since leaving the Dolphins? I like to think it is his hiring and personal coaching skills. Some like to say he pushes the "rules" to the edge. Name me one coach that does not "try" and take advantage of the rules". Yes, that includes Mark Richt.
If you are reading this post, read carefully, garbage is not being thrown at Richt. He in my opinion has changed his approach to coaching, yes I know, sounds like a broken record. Don't believe that Todd Grantham would be our Defensive Coordinator if Mark Richt was the same coach that had Willie Martinez and others on his staff. My opinion. Change is not a bad thing, however, stability means so much.
Anyone on this board think that we (Georgia/UGA) is a better organization than maybe 3, 4, 5 years ago?
Can only speak for myself. When McGarity and Grantham came on board, I see changes, major changes. Some like to see overnight results, if you don't believe that, check the AJC reporters out. Not the stupid chatter of those that like to be "First".
Soon we will get to see just what has changed with the players and coaches.
Allow me this. If for some reason Hutson Mason replaced AM in the Clemson game or any game on our schedule, moved the ball and put Georgia in a good position, or scored a touchdown. Not one of you would be happier or louder than me. I really don't play silly AJC games on the internet.
Jesse Outlar and Furman Bisher, you are missed.
