Goose, a lot has been said recently about Grantham's side of the ball, something like . . . . he has a lot of pressure to produce in this his fourth year. He will, they will.

Guess my take is that Bobo is the coach faced with a lot of pressure to shine. Like the returning defense in 2012, Mike Bobo is facing the same kind of pressure that Grantham faced when his top players remained for another season.

Mike Bobo sounding off this early in fall practice . . . . impresses me. Bobo knows this offense has to produce, any "major" slips, won't be a pretty picture. Believe that Mike Bobo has matured, learned "how to". Georgia offenses will continue to get better under this type of leadership.

Buc, I believe you are spot on about BoBo! Outside of ol Willie, CMB has to be one of the most heavily criticized coordinators ever in Athens & rightfully so. Someone here mentioned it was refreshing to not here all the bellyaching about our offensive coordinator this offseason & like Sadlerdawg, I have been vocal about my dissatisfaction with Bobo for many years now. I must give him due credit now though, he seems to have made MAJOR strides in running our offense. Thinking that entire staff knows just how explosive this offense can become now & it is on their shoulders to maximize the abundance of talent we have on this side of the ball.
Personally, I would just like to see us control more clock and keep on pounding teams with the running game in order to help our young defense. Otherwise, I am totally on board with everything CMB is doing & I am very proud of him for weathering the storm & making the necessary changes to become the best coordinator he can possibly be.

GATA Coach Bobo!!!

Goose, really good post.

sadlerdawg called our offense out, and rightly so. There was so much going on with Willie and the 6-7 season and other things and seasons that did not speak well for Mark Richt. Richt needed to be put on the hot seat. My opinion. Have seen a lot of changes since the coaching staff changed personnel.

Mark Richt has the patience of Job, from where I sit, he has changed the way football is "going" to be played by those wearing the Red and Black. Also know that Mike Bobo "grew up" under Mark Richt. Might not be the right comparison for some, but Richt/Bobo is much like Saban/Smart in my way of thinking. Sometimes two heads are better than one. Richt now sees and understands that. Guess he knew that before we did . . . . Richt stood tall for Bobo.

Allow me this . . . . Richt/Bobo almost handed Saban/Smart a loss that will be talked about for some time to come. Best team won. It was however something to watch two ex-UGA football players going after each other in Atlanta. Much to be said for the Red and Black. One played offense and the other defense between the Hedges. Does my heart good to see our "boys" representing themselves and Georgia/Alabama on that level. Yep, we would have kicked ND's butt.

Nittty gritty, with the depth that we are building, coaches don't have to kiss butts the likes of IC and some others that once commanded "too much" attention in Athens. Wake up JHC.

There is no way, "no way" that any defense we play against this season will stop this running attack. All of us know what we have at the RB position. Really watching the "H Back" or "Fullback" contributions this season. That will happen. Understand that Hicks dropped a pass in practice, reports I have read . . . . Mike Bobo was not pleased. Keep it up MB.

Richt almost jumped over the table last season when a "smart ass" from the press corps challenged him. For me . . . . that was one of the "highlights" of 2012.

Always enjoy reading your posts Goose.

Spot on, Buc. To paraphrase your post, in my opinion, it's nice to see the entire coaching staff on the same page. The players can see it, and hopefully will respond.

goose, good to hear from ya, and you also are spot on, IMO. (It's easy to say that since we have agreed on the main sticking points for quite some time now). B)

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Read somewhere that JHC, even though not playing in the first game against Clemson, has high spirits. One of our defense players flatly predicts that JHC is going to be an All-American. What I like when reading reports coming from practice is the "attitude" that JHC is showing. No pouting, getting ready for his time to participate. At 6'5" and 220 pounds with great speed, will be a force.

Below is an article that pretty much sums it up for me. Experience is a good teacher (or should be). Not sure that was the case with the defense last season. Both players and coaches seemed a bit too sure of themselves. Cocky is ok, just have to back talk up with performance. Sure like the depth, different names that we are hearing about on the defensive side.
