Cheap Seats In Sanford Stadium . . . . Soon.

On this board it has been mentioned more than once that there are troubled waters ahead.

First time that I (personally) have witnessed AD's and former UGA football stars saying the things that some of us have been discussing for more than a year or two.

UGA took some steps to fill the empty seats that students were not occupying. Put a special deal out there for those that did want to occupy said seats.

Anyone that thinks that the short view of that "bandaid" will change what is on the horizon, think you need to take a second look.

Mickey and Minnie have now entered the picture, with the aid of Mike Slive and others. What that means down the road is pretty simple . . . . once ESPN has you, they do not turn loose. What is ESPN in the business for? Could it possibly be the dollars that will come rolling in, once they have established a foothold?

SEC teams, football mainly, will not fill those empty seats with ESPN in the picture. Will create more empty seats as David Pollard describes in the link below. Football has been taken over by the Mickey and Minnie's and there are many others out there that are not under the ESPN (Disney) umbrella that are looking to cash in on the SEC Gold Mine (CBS) for one.

Got the bucks, pay TV, sit on the sofa, don't worry about whether or not Sanford Stadium or any other stadium in the SEC is filled to capacity. Wave of the (near) future.

Folks, the "game" has changed and Mike Slive put the "finishing nail" on the way SEC football will be played for the viewing audience.

Days of stadiums that are much larger than the days of the Roman Empire are going to suffer at the prices being charged. We will see the price of admission to enter Sanford Stadium and other stadiums around the conference drop.

Hide in the bushes and watch. Anyone second guessing management at UGA saying we don't need an inside facility to practice. Just read between the lines and if you happen to know a few folks, explanation is simple.

Just a thought from a Veteran that is wrapped up in feelings of "pride" about those that served and those that also did their part when asked. Don't have a lot of feelings for Fonda and her ways when our young men and women served, served because they were called, had no choice. Most were good Americans that did not flee to Canada and other places. Memorial Day, they gave it up for all of us.

See that Steve has allowed many to enter. Also notice that there are no comments. Couple of folks banned. Appears that those of us that chatter need to close down and wait for the fall. Tired of this. Site does not seem to hold folks attention.

Have been told that this is the time of year that folks don't have much to say. Guess it comes down to winning or losing a football game in the fall to get anyone to address UGA Football.

See you folks in the Fall. Have to say this, don't like the new layout.

See ya . . . .

I agree with you Buc, don't like how thing are going with the TV deals. like you said, its all about the money. For most of my life there was nothing like getting up on Saturday morning, driving to Athens from Augusta, tailgating going to the book store ect. For the past 5 years, my wife's health has keep us from going to games. Before that, we went to Fla, and the Vandy Games in Nashville, and some bowl games. I guess I could still go to live games with my sons and grandkids, but she love UGA probably more than me and just can't or don't want to go without her. I guess, this for her is the only thing that is good about all the TV coverage, like you said, sit of sofa comfort of home ect.

It sure is sad to get old, and watch things change. Some change is OK, but seems that most changes are for the worse. I thanks those and your for you kindness in my little health problem. I hope everyone has a good and safe Memorial day.

Buc, Need to ask you to rethink leaving until fall. Yes it seem that the number of people who take part on our blog drops way way off in the summer -truth!

However, those that hang in until fall kickoff have posted like yourself history nuggets about UGA and the football program that will go untold and to me this is a valuable and worth while deed that I enjoy.

Numbers don't equal quality! People are still reading! GO Dawgs

Go Dawgs!

Here a status update...
Membership has been open for 3 months or thereabout. It takes a lot of time keeping up with spammers. We have installed new software to cut off bogus registrations and new members will have their messages moderated until they prove they are here to talk football. It sounds complicated but it simple physics. This board is so good we are a constant target of spammers and others trying to disrupt us.

Buc, you are keeping us all thinking, but maybe not posting, during what is usually a very slow time. Last year your preseason posting got us all going well before the season started. Your posts are thoughtful and well written. I read and think about each one and all the comments too.

In addition to our regular web site traffic we are being followed by over 2000 people on Facebook and 2500 on Twitter. Those two sources add about 10000 people to readership that don't appear in forum stats. Those folks do a lot of reading, not much posting. But they do click "Like" buttons. I am integrating social media into dawgs.com to fully enjoy the experiences offered by that platform.

The membership will be growing. As you can see I have started the summer remodeling job but there is one thing that will never change.. The Dawg Talk Forum and the great bunch of guys that are members. You guys are what people are reading. And the reason it gets read is it is real conversation with real facts and ideas.

If I tried to make money on the site I would have to go to smack talk and tabloid stories. This site is dedicated to the Dawgs, not the money changers.

Just sayin..IMHO

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.

Duck, I am a Saturday 2pm college football game guy. I understand that doesn't monetize well for TV so they changed the way college football does business. I still want to go back to Saturday 2pm.
And OMT. Players should have to practically beg to be considered for the Dawgs not the other way around.
Now I know that is old fashioned and I am getting on up there in tooth so I ask. When do you change Dawg or college football tradition? What is the core tradition that should never change?
