Georgia Foundation Laid

Recent comments by the current young men wearing the Red and Black for Georgia, took me back to a thread put up over a year ago. One year and two months to be exact. There were some very interesting comments by folks other than Buc about Tray Matthews.

Beautiful thing when a plan works, one post in particular that caught my eye for sure. TN Dawg compared Tray Matthews to Thomas Davis . . . . I am on board with that. Tray along with JCH are going to be big time safties. There are a couple others that could and will play on this defensive unit somewhere.

Little slow here, so spend some time looking at past threads and posts. :)

Last statement that Jordan made . . . .
“You’re going to see a whole new identity of Georgia football.”

Posting a link that I think many of you will enjoy. Videos have more depth than most get to see on our usual sites. If this is your first time watching these videos . . . . what do you think. The word that keeps popping up is competition and SPEED. Who knows, this group might have some fun this season. Enjoy . . . . :)

Thanks for the link Buc liked it a lot. Defiantly sounds like a different attitude around campus everyone working hard want to play instead of expecting to. After that clip I checked out CMR presser and also liked what he had to say about the young pups and how it went with HM. Already wishing it was September.

DAWGtm, with you, like the spirit of coaches and players. Something is different thus far. My opinion.

You make an excellent point of . . . . players working hard to play instead of expecting to. Coaches on both sides of the ball said before Spring football began that positions were open. (Defense mostly) From what I have read thus far, buying into the coach speak.

One example of the above. I am a huge supporter of Ramik Wilson. Watched him in Florida, high school, he would get after folks. If we watch what he has to say so far, easy to see that there is competition and nothing is guaranteed. This quite frankly is the way Saban/Smart build their team year after year. Depth, competition, solid coaching.

Did notice that one of the "hot prospects" in the State of Georgia is giving his opinion on why UGA is losing too many recruits to outsiders. Young pup all of 17/18 years old and heaven forbid, already has all of the answers. Dudes like this particular one need to shut their damn mouths and go wherever it is that they want to go. This linebacker is trying to keep up with the pace that a certain linebacker that committed to Alabama after putting the TAT on his arm that read AU. Many good athletes that we will get.

Quite frankly, I will take the likes of Tray Matthews. Make a commitment and stick with it. Good on Tray.

thriller, following this years defense as closely as I can.

No doubting that I really like Ramik Wilson, do have to say this . . . . There appears to be serious competition from others for the inside. Like it. If there is a player that is better suited to play ILB than Ramik, I don't hesitate to say play the baller.

Do not want anymore of this "playing the teachers pet" crap that apparently Garner did for most of his time in Athens. Sorry, call it beating RG up or whatever, results speak for themselves. I have come to the conclusion that Garner wanted to be "buddies" with his chosen few. (Urban Meyer did the same at Florida, caused him a "serious illness") Auburn will run the 4-2-5 defense this season, four man fronts more to Garner's liking. Believe he had as many problems with the 3/4 as some of the players had at the beginning of the transition.

Takes me back to Mark Richt and his way of hiring "friends" . . . . did not produce the kind of results that many UGA folks were looking for. Appears to me that Richt got the message, probably through sitting with McGarity. Mark Richt is not the same coach that arrived on campus several years back. That is a good thing.

Garner, left for one reason, maybe more, don't believe he was near as good at coaching as recruiting. Believe that Todd Grantham and other coaches on the defensive side recognized that. Therefore, Mark Richt did not make a serious effort to retain Garner. I for one hope that policy continues . . . . coaches are no different than players . . . . they have to produce. Garner did not produce. One example, Jenkins got up to 370 pounds last season. Preparing for the combine, Jenkins was down to 345. The same big man that never played the 3/4 the way Grantham wanted it to be played. Buddy system worked for him (Jenkins) in my way of thinking.

Looking forward to Auburn. Going to play in their house for the second straight year. See how Malzahn likes the "speed" and "depth" of this group of UGA players. Will also be interesting to see how AM and company treat Garner and his front.

Just thinking out loud . . . . :)
