Talk a little about offense. Not going to call this a scoop, (I do think/know it is) will be interesting to see if anyone else picks this up from our site in the next few days. Been known to happen. At this point in time, none in the media or private blogs have said this, maybe even thought about it.
Mentioned a while back that AJ Turman in my way of thinking was a really good get. Wait until you see this young man in person, huge shoulders and thighs, loves contact. Yes, said before, he is fast. AJ is not going to out run a 4.3, 4.4 defensive back, but believe me when I say this, he will run over them in a heart beat. Big, strong, fast running back. Excellent making a cut with a full head of steam. That is when defensive players "forget" how to wrap up or tackle as it was called in the old days.
AJ played in a "Pistol" offense, two running backs. I think that Mike Bobo is going to use the "Pistol" some this year. I will not be surprised to see Faton Bauta, one of our two running backs along with AJ Turman on the field at the same time. Could very well be Faton Bauta with Gurshall in the "Pistol" also. We have options, and offensive linemen love to run block.
At this point in time in college football and some pro ball, the "Pistol" cannot be ignored. My bet is that Mike Bobo is not going to ignore the system. I truly believe that AJ Turman signed with the University of Georgia because he knows that Mike Bobo/Mark Richt are in favor of some changes. There is not a doubt in my mind that we now have the personnel in Athens to make the "Pistol" work.
Not saying drop the pro style offense that we are and have been using forever. This gives us two offensive units doing different things, and doing them well. No coach in the SEC wants to watch a team that is proficient at both.
Faton Bauta, AJ Turman, Gurshall, that is scary.
Find out soon enough. Surprised that Saban did not make more of an effort for AJ. Maybe he did, but we all know that if we are ever going to rise to the top, we have to change a thing or two. Some changes have been made, looking forward to the ones we have not seen.
