Recruiting and Coaching Thoughts

DAWGtm, guess I am beating the same dead horse, seem to remember a highly rated running back that without fail had to ask AM what to do on almost every snap of the ball. Anyone that has played the position knows the quarterback has to know what every man is supposed to do on every call.

In my humble opinion, that is a sad thing. Young man with incredible talent, picked up a few honors as a freshman, unlimited future. Had one serious hang up for a running back . . . . did not like CONTACT.

Personally, don't think that Mark Richt will ever go through that again with one of his recruits. Richt has always been a very generous person, do believe the sideline experience changed his way of focusing on the job he was hired to do. Might be that some of his current coaches and an athletic director mentioned that to him. Just a guess, of course.

Right now there are some of the young men that like playing the media game prior to the 2013 signing date, however, once they sign, the name of the game they have been playing changes. All business.

Grushall men came to campus to play football and get an education. Seems they are accomplishing both and doing well.

Say it again, 2013 will speak for itself. I have high hopes and am glad that we are playing a schedule that could turn out to be a blessing. :)

Speaking of recruits, wonder how the official visits went this weekend?

I post a lot, also read and write outside of the forum. Many on here know what I think of Erk, have mentioned it more than once.

If you are not aware of some of the things that made many of us older farts happy, read the link below that was published in the Athens Banner-Herald.

Erk was a very special human being.

Mentioned on this board a time or two that I was not a happy camper when I realized that Erk was not going to be considered for the head post at Georgia. Look over the stats he created at Georgia Southern and the respect that folks like Erk and Munson gained from the UGA faithful. Then check the list of head coaches that preceded Mark Richt. Any wonder that I have some hard feelings, all part of the game.

Anyway, the article shows what can be done on the coaching side of the equation.

VD understood the love for Erk on the Georgia Campus, football players, fans, and alumni for the most part. He did not want Erk to replace him, if so, why not a head coach in waiting, more or less. If VD had expressed to Erk that he was next in line, Erk would not have left. Think about some of Erk's comments in the link I listed, he was man enough to move on and give VD his glory. Difference in the two men . . . . Erk was about young men, football and Georgia.

growl, I have a soft spot also for Georgia Southern.

Todd Grantham wants this player, even though Auburn's defensive line coach did not. . . .
